Hey all,

As the title suggests, I'm having trouble recording in and managing my DAW, Cubase 5. I'm using an old Audigy 2 sound card. However, when I use Cubase, it will only output sound through the card when all other audio-using programs close, i.e. itunes, Skype, Chrome. If they are open when Cubase is opened, the sound outputs are listed as 'in use'.

Apparently this is something to do with Windows 7's use of audio? In Windows XP, I could use the onboard sound for Cubase outputs at the same time as Chrome, itunes, and so on. Is there a fix?

I miss being able to compose while listening to online radio, music, a film clip, etc.

Thanks,
- HateDread.

I know nothing about ASIO, but in my experience the sound subsystem behaves very differently from XP in Vista & Win7. Also, the Vista/Win7 Soundblaster Audigy drivers are terrible, Creative disabled a lot of stuff that works fine in XP because they were hoping people would pay for non-crippled drivers. That went down as well as could be expected.
