I started a new playthrough of New Vegas, and I'm a pretty high level (31 with the Dead Money DLC added) and I've only started to touch on the main quest and I have a question.

If I want to play independent, can I still do the NCR and Legion quests up to a certain point, and make them think I'm helping them? I'm saying this becuase I just finished the Boomer questline, and I'm given an option to report this to Yes-Man, but it did not fail the Render Unto Caesar quest either. I assume if I tell him, will they suddenly change sides, or will they stick with whatever side I chose?

On a related note, if I wanted to go around killing Legion/NCR members in faction armor, do I still get the negative reputation points, or does the armor stop that?

You can do those quests up to a point. Hmm...actually, I don't remember if there's ever a point (aside from the "point of no return") where you alienate Yes Man.

Nope, I just checked. Yes Man will stay available always, provided you haven't started the end-game stuff.

P.S.: The Fallout Wiki [http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas] is incredibly useful for when you want to know anything about the game (or series, I used it to get some more background info from the first three games in the series).

Yeah, I checked the Wiki, couldn't find what I needed. Thanks though.

So, just checking, I can lie to both factions, and get the reputation benefits for both from doing these quests?

i know theres a certain point along every quest line (legion, NCR, House) that if you do the quest then you fail all the other faction quests automatically, i think starting "For the Republic, Part 2" with the ncr is there PNR not 100% sure,
although the yes man option never goes away

also, i know that killing ceaser guys while where ranger armor gives you no bad rep with them

EDIT:
"Beware the Wrath of Ceasar" is the leagion turn point
"DOnt Tread on the Bear" quest is the NCR turn point
"The House has Gone Bust" quest is mr houses turn point

supposedly doing any of these three quests will make the other factions hate you and you wont be able to do any of there side quests aswell, so it will basicly make you stuck on the path you chose

Up to a point. You can do each faction (so long as you're not vilified) quest line until you get the warning bout alienating other factions if you continue to help whatever group.

Ah, okay. So let's say if I wanted to see some of the Legion's later quests, and I fail Don't Tread on the Bear, will NCR always attack me on sight, even if I have high reputation with them.
