Help with identifying a movie?

My mum has a scene from a movie in her head and it's driving her crazy. It's a coloured man that looks like (or is) Bokeem Woodbine playing a very timid character who stands up to someone deciding what to do with his life (or telling him what to do). Those probably aren't the best details but that's what she described.

Well thats quite vague, could it be "Collateral" with Jaime Foxx and Tom Cruise, it's about a hitman (Cruise) who uses a timid taxi driver (foxx) to drive him around to perform hits on people. Here's the trailer
