So i got the game the other day, and everytime i try to install it, the game freezes my computer about 3/4 the way through the installation. I tried again today, and it froze the computer almost instantly. When i say froze/freeze, i mean that my mouse stopped working, and when i pressed any button it made the "BEEP" sound windows does when nothing works.

My graphics card can run oblivion and bioshock on the highest quality, and i don't know about my sound card, but if Oblivion and Fallout 3 are on the same engine, they should both work, right?

So everytime it freezes i have to restart the computer... Anyone know how to fix the freezing during installation?

P.S. I have tried installing it in a different directory than it recommends, it still freezes.

I would recommend contacting Bethesda or going to the support forums at their official site, I agree with mentor07825, it could be a disk problem, but I doubt it. If it is a faulty CD, I would take it back and get a new one, or get a refund and buy it through Steam, then you wouldn't have to get a no cd crack so you don't have to put in the disk everytime...

Ok... Let's say that it has installed and worked completely fine on a friend's computer. And still does work completely fine when played with the CD in.

And to oppose your latter suggestion, what if the thing is an ISO? Bethesda would get pissed off.

Oblivion is much older than Fallout 3. Hell, even my computer can run Oblivion.

Perhaps your computer has insufficient hard drive space..?

No way, I had to get rid off lots of things, but i made sure i had enough space. And if i didn't i'm pretty sure the game would warn me right away.

You could try activating it on steam using the game's activation/verification code(It will add it to your library so you can download it through there anytime). I usually have a bit more luck with Steam when it comes to stability.

Since you already bought the damn thing and it's not working, then pirate it. Sounds ugly, I know, but why should you bother with finding a way around it when your bussiness should have ended when you paid for it?

Just leave that part out. An ISO runs the same has a hard disk(seeing as they are the same).

This guy said what I would have. Which is good because now I don't have to feel like a dick for saying it.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, console games are much more reliable than computer games.

Console-tards never fail to crack me up. Weird doesn't sound right to say console-tards and never fail...

Actually I am a PC gamer. I just happen to also be a dickhead.

1. Get Steam, it is free: http://store.steampowered.com/
2. Enter the CD-Key after clicking on the "Activate a product on Steam" button.
3. Do something until till Fallout 3 is done Downloading and Installing
4. Play Fallout 3

Truthfully, it is an .ISO and i have tried mounting it in Daemon Tools. I think the problem is that i'm installing it on the same drive the ISO is mounted from, if that makes any sense.

I'll assume that you extracted the ISO from a legal copy that you bought, or someone bought for you(we don't wanna encourage illegal stuff in these forums).

Use daemon tools to mount the ISO in a virtual drive, and then just install wherever, from there. For example: create a new Folder in your Desktop, and then install it over there. If that fails you've got the ISO wrong, I'd say.

Tsk tsk, has it worked on another friends then? (I.e. same copy) or was it the same torrent. May just have been a dodgy download. I wouldn't recommend downloading it again as that's very naughty, but it might fix your problem.

I got so close today. I went to the uninstall wizard, and instead of uninstalling it, it installed the game. I almost pissed myself in joy!
But then, as soon as i ran it, it crashed, and i got the "Windows has encountered a problem..." error. Damn, so close too.

The ISO is correct, same one my friend uses.
