All my music from CDs and the stuff I bought off of iTunes has miraculously disappeared. And now I can't get it back. I tried to re-download some of it, and they charged me for it. Does anyone here know how to redownload off of iTunes the stuff you've already bought?

I've never had this issue before, but I assume you have an account with iTunes, right? I figured that anything you've purchased would be saved to that... if not, I don't really know what to say except maybe trying to contact Apple about it.

I had this problem, everything that I had put into my library just disappeared, though i've never downloaded anything, so I just put all of my music back into the library. A huge inconvenience I know...but what can you do?

He's asking for legitimate advice, not snark from the peanut gallery. If you don't like iTunes/iPods/Apple, that's fine, but please take the negative attitude elsewhere.

I tried that, found records of what I've bought, but I can't find anyway to re-download it...

Go to the nearest apple store, make an appointment with the Genius there, and your problems will generally be fixed. The Geniuses are highly-trained tech support, and are great people.

Defiantly this, it sounds like someone may have deleted your music though? I've found iTunes to be very reliable for music.

Email them, then make sure you understand the conditions of purchase and backup before purchasing from their store again. If possible back up music you have bought in future.

I second the uninstall notion, but obviously it would be stupid to do so before you have recovered whatever you have lost. If you expect to be able to come to a gamer forum and ask for advice on purchase systems that are generally regarded as inferior within our circles, don't expect us to encourage it's use. A lot of escapist users will recommend using different systems, there are a lot out there and most are less restrictive.

Twas merely an idea. I didn't mean to offend. Where has the sense of humour gone in this place?

Look in your itunes folder in your computer. If it's there, just drag it into the iTunes window. Hopefully all your music is still in there, but if not then I'm sorry there is nothing you really can do. You cannot re-download things you buy in the itunes store for free.

If that's the case, I apologize for my rashness. It's just that we get too many people who do/say the same kinds of things out of spite or malice, and it's worn rather thin with me.

There is a way to get it back off your iPod by locating a hidden folder on the iPod itself. This is assuming you have not updated your iPod since you lost everything.
He's right, do you have an iPod? If you have a PC you can easily grab a program to get all your music back

I'd have said contact that iTunes/Apple techs first, before rummaging around. Speaking from my own experience with techs when you tell them something's gone wrong with their system (not necessarily Apple), they seem to like to try to find some fault with you first and, if they do, refuse to help on the grounds that you've null'd/voided the Warranty or whatever.

Still, like I say, iTunes might not be that unhelpful.

You don't even need a program. There is an FAQ out there, found through a Google search I believe where it explains that there is an invisible file on the iPod where it stores your music. You can make it visible and copy/paste it onto your computer

However it will have spelt the names of the songs using a four letter code such as AKAE or something like that , so you will need to manually put every song back on your iTunes. When it is put back onto iTunes it will be named correctly again.
I know of turning on hidden folders and rummaging around a bit, but a program would be much easier especially if he has a ton of music because it would restore everything (song names too) back to normal.
