First of all, I'm aware that this has been brought up plenty before, but my time is limited and I can't peruse all these threads. So my apologies.

Anyhoo, I'm facing off against Matriarch Benezia in Noveria. I aced the first bit, have nearly full medigel, nearly full grenades, and full health for my full squad. I can kick her ass within seconds, but no matter what I do, I get immediately owned by like 5 commandos. I have no other saves that would do me any good, and with school around the corner, I don't want to restart the whole game (and I kind of doubt it would help anyway).

It's an awesome game and I want to finish it within this next week, but this is just to damn aggravating, especially with having to watch the same scene over and over again. Is there some special tactic I'm missing? Am I just plain not good enough?

If it helps: I'm (I think) level 15 Biotic/Shotgun class (Vanguard I think?), my teammates are Wrex and Tali, and we all have pretty decent equipment.

There's a couple that rush at you and a couple that stay back I think, focus everything on the ones that rush you and stay crouched - that way you're less likely to be hit by biotics.

Also don't take cover when they rush you, and move in that first square you're in as much as possible.

Hope I've understood what bit you meant, good luck!

you have to kill the commando squads, for every squad you kill she gets less powerful and you eventually defat her

stay at a distance and only concentrate on the commandoes, only do damage to the matriarch when you are all clear

your biotics won't help you much as she is a master of them. i recommend storming your way into cover. i.e. to the left or right. take out the commandos and then deal with the *****

Don't try and kill her before you kill all of the commandos. What class are you using?

You shouldn't need to do anything at all to her until all of the adds are down. They come in a total of either 3 or 4 waves. I forget but you get a little cue to show that the next wave is coming in the form of the matriarch loosing power.

Just change the difficulty to easy and once you have beating this challenge change the difficulty back to whatever difficulty you had before.

Just because I enjoy picking nits, I've already passed the part where it's impossible to kill her, I've passed the cutscene where she temporarily breaks free of Saren, and it's the next battle that I can't get. But this advice all makes sense, especially :

I'll try it then if it doesn't work, whine some more.
