Help with Mass Effect

I am on Feros and I'm doing the main mission with Liara and Ashley in my squad as a Soldier on the 360. I am doing the assignment where you have to fill Gavin Hossle's OSD with data. I can't access the console because my encryption skill is too low. I have read that if you finish the main mission on Feros you can't go back and open it. So what I'm asking is if I can get someone like Tali in my squad without finishing the mission? Or will I have to let this assignment pass?

Just so I know, Gavin's console is called 'Exogeni Terminal' isn't it?

It's called "Gavin's Terminal" I think. It's next to a terminal that you have to decrypt, you shouldn't have to decrypt his though.
