Why dont you just sit down and write your paper. Not trying to be rude but you will get a lot more done working on it then asking members of an online community to make your discussion for you.

OT: What is the main point of your paper. Your thesis? Audience?

First-Person shooters have a status as not being "childish", the biggest stigma of playing video games rooting back to the 1980's. It's because of this that makes them so accessible to a large portion of the audience, the 12-18 year old males. Contrary to this, that is not the main demographic, implying that different games would be popular, but the sheer appeal of being a superior player in multiplayer is what keeps people coming back. The controls are generally easy to understand, mechanics are familiar, and they're a throwback to the first 3D games of the 1990's like DOOM and Quake and Team Fortress, having a nostalgia factor.

Excessive marketing, I mean Activision really went all out to brand CoD into everyones brain, my mom never even knew what games are but she knew CoD...
The other two were flying in the CoD draft, with your marketing standard "CoD killer" line.

Are you trying to get us to do your assignment work for you? you're just going to get a bunch of other people opinions, many of which will probably be conflicting. What are you going to put as references?

The ironic part of this is that Medal of Honor and Battlefield 1942 both predate the original Call of Duty. You're right about the most recent entries into the respective series, but Call of Duty was originally meant to be a Medal of Honor killer, and it was made by former members of the MoH team. Battlefield just kind of did it's own thing, having a completely different focus than those games did.

OT: OP, write your own paper. Anything you get out of this thread, unless you properly cite it, is going to be plagiarism. I get the feeling that you don't want to cite this stuff properly.

Edit: And this is ignoring the fact that forum posts only count as a scholarly source if you want to cite the opinion of a specific person who uses the forums, the way you would if you cited a post by Gabe Newell on the Steam forums. Random posts by random users are going to be useless to you even if you do cite them, assuming you have a professor who actually checks sources.

When you mentioned college work, I kinda assumed that you meant coursework/assignments, and with those it has to be properly sourced/referenced where you got your information from, otherwise it can be taken as plagiarism.
