Help with my keyboard

Alright, I just bought Half-life, Blue shift, Opposing Forces, and the Sands of Time trilogy over Steam (I love holiday sales). However, once I fired them up, I realized that my wireless keyboard is incredibly unresponsive. By that I mean that, at times, I'll run in a different, or sometimes opposite, direction from what I say (i.e, I'll hit W and it'll act as if I hit S and A). At other times, I'll be holding down W, and it'll act as if I'd been pressing it multiple times (as in, I'll move forward, stop, move forward, etc). Do you have any ideas what my problem might be or how to fix it?

It could be something messed up with the output input part of the keyboard. Mechanical Dyslexia perhaps?

I dunno. Hey, since its a wireless keyboard, could there be interference?

Very possible. I mean if you have the receptor in one of the back USB ports, that could really mess it up.

Might just wanna try switching channels. Different IR devices can also interfere. Bad reception is also a problem, so make sure the "path" to the receiving end is pretty much clear. I always made sure I had a clear LOS to the receiving end, and that seemed to work alright.

As lame this response is, I have to agree with it. Wireless is inferior to wired. Less latency, perfect reception and you don't need any batteries.

Can't; the computer came with the wireless keyboard. Thing is, it's been good to me for years, this only started yesterday.

My first thought is: Throw out the wireless keyboard, spend $20 on a logitech ultra flat and try again.

Seeing as that is maddeningly unhelpful when you don't have a spare couple of tenners to use, you could try looking at what is between you and your wireless receptor. Any radio transmitters or metallic objects (a chunky gaming case for example) or basically anything electronic is going to interfere. Personally I notice some severe lag on my network just before my phone rings due to the interference from it.

Basically, like you guessed, my bet is interference. Put the receiver in front, don't let anything get in the way, and try it out.

Did you drop it or anything liquid spilled on it or anything like that?

No. I didn't mention this until I finished testing it, but here's what I think is the problem: A while ago, my mouse (which shared a receiver with the keyboard) broke, and it didn't occur to me to get a wired mouse as a replacement until after my Mom had already bought the damned wireless mouse. So, now I have two separate receivers. Could that be the problem, and if so, is there anything I can do besides replace either one?

EDIT:

This is going to sound really simple, but did you try putting in fresh batteries?
A light on the receiver would light up if I was low on batteries.

The two receivers may very well be interfering. If you are looking for a cheap replacement (for a double set) the Logitech EX110. It's low tech wireless, but if you only need a wireless mouse and keyboard, you can't go wrong.

That could be the problem with two receivers. Try using one but not the other, if it works just fine, then that's your problem.

I'll be sure to try that. Thanks. The only problem with that is that the problem isn't constant; sometimes I'll be fine, sometimes I won't, and I can hardly play a long enough amount of time without a mouse.

Update:Wow, I feel stupid. I put the keyboard receiver closer to the keyboard, and now the problem is mostly solved.
