I'm trying to build a gaming pc and I wanted some advice.

Here is what I've selected so far:

Motherboard:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3858040&Sku=A455-9701

Disc Drive:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4814646&Sku=S203-8592%20OEM

Processor:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4904560&Sku=A79-8320

Hard drive:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3303660&Sku=T24-9901

ram:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3683258&Sku=K24-2220

Now, I still need the power supply, graphics card and case. I will have 400 dollars left to spend after I buy those parts.

Can you help me choose the rest of the parts with the money I have left?

If you have any suggestions on any alternative parts, I'm also open to suggestions.

Well the MB and DD look fine but I think an 8 core CPU is a bit overkill. Most high-end PC games (Arkham City, BF3, Crysis 2, Metro 2033, Witcher 2 etc...), can run on max and ultra settings perfectly fine on a 4 core CPU, provided they're not bottlenecked by not having a comparibly appropriate PSU and/or GC. So I would recommend either of these two; http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819106009 or http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113280

The HD looks fine, personally I'd have gone with a Wester Digital Black but you can't really argue with that price! Or depending on how your pricing works out at the checkout you might consider also getting a SSD. You could have the OS installed on the SSD and maybe a few other programs or games that you use a lot. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171667

As for RAM, again I think 16GB is fine however, most games can run perfectly fine on 4GB. That being said some high end games like Arkham City, BF3, Crysis 2, Metro 2033, Witcher 2 etc..., all benefit (especially when running on high or ultra settings), from 8 GB of RAM. I'd recommend http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231455 or http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144

As for PSU, something in the 500-600 watt range should do fine and any of these that fit within your price range would work;

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171038

As for the case, you really don't need the latest and greatest or even the prettiest. The most important things to keep in mind with regards to a computer case is air flow and cooling. Also keep an eye out for things like cable management, accessory mounts, fan options etc...http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233 or http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139008

Lastly for a graphics card. It really depends on what games you want to play and to what degree of visual quality (med., high., or ultra settings). I'll come back for this! Need more research!!!

Although those products are in CDN dollars the USD-CDN exchange rate approximately $1 CDN = $.98 USD. Hope all that helps and good luck with the build.

The 8-core CPU is not needed. Just stick with an i5-3570k and overclock if you want the best performance. And you need a discrete video card. I'll recommend the AMD HD 7970 or a GTX 670. The 670 is the card I have and it's a beast. :-D

Other than that, I see no issues. We're here if you need some more help. :)

Literally 15 minutes ago I watched a video about making a great budget PC for about $800 on TekSyndicate. They have a lot of good suggestion for builds that suit almost any budget. Check them out.
