I'm having a bit of trouble. I found a Pokemon hack called Toxic Purple online and I downloaded it with Fire Red in order for it to work. I have them all in the same file, but whenever I try to play the ROM it doesn't work. Can someone help me?
ROM =/= RAM.Reuq said:You see I hear ROM and think Random access memory... I'll go shall I.
No. Playing on an emulator if you have the game is okay. Hacking, that is changing the content without the permission of the creators, modifying or removing things from the game (even a rom) is illegal.Cryofthewolf said:I have the game, so it's ok.
Technically, rom hacking itself isn't illegal assuming the rom is a copy of your own game.MaxTheReaper said:Pretty sure it's against the rules to ask/tell someone about this kind of stuff.
The hack should have come as a patch. The readme of that patch should say which program to use to patch the game, and provide a download link.(if there is no download link, try this [http://www.google.com/])Cryofthewolf said:I'm having a bit of trouble. In all technicalities, if you own a particular product and you want to hack it, that's entirely up to you.MaxTheReaper said:Pretty sure it's against the rules to ask/tell someone about this kind of stuff.
