I need some help getting my computer running again. The power went off while it was booting up and now I get the error "Missing or corrupt file "\windows\system32\config\SYSTEM"".

I have accsesed the recovery console and used "chkdsk /p" which found errors and used "chkdks /r" which appears to have fixed "a" problem but not "the" problem. I have now used fixmbr which seems to have had no effect.

Im a little stumped. Help pls!

Use the console to directly copy the file from your install disc to the affected file location.

It's the same as copying an NTLDR file. Here's a link that may help:

Yeah if you have the installation disc this can be rectified easily.

I spent a while deciphering that. I could have spent that time doing something else.

Anyways, if you can't find the problem, system restore will save you 65% of the time, every time.
