I have made a decision to buy one of Gateway's FX series laptops the moment the two new products are released. But this requires me to buy new accecories: a new mouse and a headset.

My choice for mice are between a Razer Deathadder, a Microsoft Habu or a microsoft sidewinder X5. I am not willing to spend any more on than 70$ Canadian (~60$) so, which one is best for a right handed FPS player. If you have another suggestion I'd be willing to consider it.

I also need a headset. I will listen to music with it, watch movies and play games. But I am on a budget so I will need something under 100$ Canadian (~86$ US). I have had trouble researching product advise for headsets so I'd appreciate any of yours.

Thanks for helping out.

Eh, mice are highly personal. There is no one right choice.

What mice have you used before? What was good? What sucked?

Sadly, the differences between mice are subtle and there is no way to tell how good fits they are for *you* before you actually have the mouse in your hand.

Anyway: grab your mouse just like you normally do. Are only the tips of your fingers touching the buttons (claw grip) or are your fingers flat against the buttons (palm grip)?

I use a claw grip. I find the best mice for me are symmetric, flat and low. I think palm grippers are probably better off with "ergo" shaped mice that fill the palm easily. Therefore, if you don't have a chance to hold a variety of different mice, then depending on whether you are a claw or palm gripper, I recommend either Razer Salmosa or DeathAdder in that price class. (Razer, since I feel they have the best button and scroll wheel feel.) I also recommend not buying Habu. I owned a Copperhead, which uses the same optics as Habu, and was somewhat disappointed. DeathAdder is almost exactly the same mouse as Habu, but with superior optics (which are also found on the Salmosa).

If you buy anything more than $25, you sir have fallen for the greatest scam ever in the gamin industry. These "gaming mice" are just brightly colored, over priced crap. If you find one of these "Gaming Mice" that you like, go to Walmart and buy the same thing just without the logo and a fraction of the price. Best thing to do is go to Best Buy and they have all their mice on display. Just find one that fits your hand and has enough buttons on it. I found a Dynex at Walmart for like $20 American. Had it for about five months now with know defects and I never cleaned it. It has side buttons and a mouse wheel! WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR!? Since most optical reader manufactorers outsource to EVERYBODY and are basically the same, don't go off of that to decide.

Head Phones are preference. It depends if it fits your head. If you are gaming it's not like you need $200 dollar head phones when you can get a pair for $18 at your local department store.

Just don't be dumb.
