helpless online moments

have you ever had a moment where you looked up to see your death approach right to your face, half a second before it hit you, and all you had time to do was look at it and go "...damn"?

i have one that happened to me, and one that i witnessed..please share your "...damn" moments with us, fellow escapists

Halo 3 - Snowbound - Social Slayer - i was on the outside of the map ((blue spawn i think)) and was walking up the ramp ontop of the interior, i killed guy after losing my shields, turned to my left, saw a frag bounce up the ramp right to my face and all i could say was "...fuck" BOOM!!!!! pretty much immediatly after i said it.

CoD:WaW - Downfall - Hardcore Team Deathmatch - a teammate was chasing a guy through the building on the left ((assuming you spawn russian and are looking towards the Riechstag)) he had a sticky grenade, threw it as soon as he hit the door leading outside of the last room. The sticky made it out of his hand only to be stopped by the top of the door...he stopped..looked up....then just looked down as if he was hanging his head in shame with a whimper ((if you have ever seen Event Horizon...just like the guy when he found the bomb with 3 seconds left)) it was actually pretty funny to watch

Well I was playing Firefight in Halo:ODST. I was the last man standing when I found myself backed into a corner with two chieftains charging at me.

Does that count?

I was playing rockets with my friends, and had no idea where they were. All of a sudden, three red dots appear on my mini map, accompanied by the sound of 3 rocket launchers firing. All I could do was jump and hope. It didn't work needless to say (but yet I said it).

Sniping my own team-mate in the head in Halo 2. I was lining up a headshot on this guy when suddenly he moves to the left at the exact moment I fired and it hit the guy behind him who was sneaking up for an assassination kill.

Needless to say, said team mate was ever so slightly pissed with me.

it does i had a moment like that...last man, went into the spawn room..had an invincible cheiftan charge in and own me...

I will always remember a match in Gears. Our team had been almost completely wiped out except for me and a friend. Mind you I was/am horrible at Gears. Me and him are sitting in the corner of the map. We know there is at least one sniper out there. My friend thinks he has an idea where he is. He pops out to make a shot to have his head blown clean off from the opposite direction. Needless to say I knew I was fucked.

On the subject of Halo, another moment is whenever you get a plasma grenade stuck to you. Also when you see a Wraith mortar heading towards you but you don't have time to get out of the way.

Anytime I play Modern Warfare and it says connection lost I feel pretty helpless there. Death always comes for me quite a lot during those moments.

tip for those moments...have everybody fire their weapon..it overloads the servers and forces an endgame

Also in CoD Search and Destroy, when the last guy on your team kills the last guy on the other team, and there's nothing but him and the still-ticking bomb. But he doesn't defuse it, does he? No, he feels the need to see how close he can get to 5 seconds before defusing it. Well, idiots always cut it too close and die, losing the round. And I have to sit there and watch, having no headset to shout "JUST DEFUSE THE FUCKING THING!"

i just love thos emoments..you're like me, will...you get to the point and don't screw around...you just get in, kill them all, and get the bomb defused as soon as you can...best strategy right there

In CoD4, when you are too close to a grenade to survive, but too far away to throw it back, and you don't have enough time to get to a safe distance.

That, or when there are no red dots on the map, then all of a sudden, you turn a corner and 3 or 4 guys on the other team are waiting there. Usually I manage to kill at least 2 of them, but in the end, I know I'm screwed.

i just remembered one...it was one that won us he game though..

CoD:WaW - Dome - Hardcore TDM - i knew there was a guy downstairs, he knew i was up the stairs...he emptied his clip from his STG-44, i had my SVT..i ran out with a buddy behind me ready to save the day..i run around the corner shooting to find 3 of them right in from of me, just out of stabbing range, i kill the guy who was shooting a me after shouting very loudly into the mic for all to hear "SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT!!!!!"

so after i kill the guy with the STG i won the game for us...and realized that i simply lucked out because the other 2 that were with him wer also reloading while waiting for me...it was one of the luckiest moment's i've ever experienced..

sorry guys i have to share these off-topic moments with you...i apologize...they just made me so proud to be a gamer


OFF-TOPIC:
also on the same level, same match, i had a Saving Private Ryan moment....me and dude are practically point blank,, both are reloading, so we pull out our pistols..he gets me into second chance, so i take him into second chance and own him ((near the very end of the movie where dude gets into a pistol fight and gets shot but kills the guy))

one more is where i pulled the "walking-pistol-headshot"...fully empty on your main gun, you pull out your pistol and walk straight towards the guy WALK not RUN...and get a headshot on him while he's using a PPSH and misses every shot

and last one is..my buddy never did the Medic challenges ((prestieged recently and just got the perk the last round)) on one single round...in one single spot of the map...he got Medic 3 on me...dude just kept pegging me when i got up...just like right in the arm...it was one of the funniest moments i've ever seen...because we finally got away and shortly after he got collateral damage on us....

i promise..from now on...i'll only do on topic posts cuz this was really long =P...no more sidetracks ((and so says mr ADHD))

One time I was playing Garry's Mod and i saw some guy who was failing epically to kill 3 headcrab zombies, so I decide to fuck with him and I snipe him with my crossbow.....He turned out to be an admin.

In Halo 3, I was on Foundy, I turned around, and for whatever reason, didn't dodge the rocket. I could've, but no. It was fate. I WAS DESTINED TO DO IT! ARGH!
