So I just went and poured myself a big ole cup of squash. I put the squash in (Robinson's Summer Fruits flavour), and then added the water, filling it to the top very quickly. Then, I immediately went in for a sip, and I felt little bits of water leaping from the cup onto my face. This isn't the first time this has happened. So why does it do this? It isn't a fizzy drink...

You are cursed, beware the ides of March.

Just kidding, honestly I don't know, unless the water is bonding with the squash quickly enough to make some of the electrons over-charged by some miracle of science and physics. But don't listen to me, I don't know what I just said.

Water could indeed be attracted to the static charge on your face but most likely ir=ts due to how fast you filled the glass and the drops "jumping" out are in fact being pushed out with some force by the last of the air rushing out of the glass

So far I like this solution the best; it's not powdered squash I'm using, it's liquid based. I guess it probably is the last of the air from the fast mixing escaping my sippy cup. But we'll never know. Anyone has any exciting ideas, keep posting. Next time I go downstairs, I'll repeat, but then set the cup on the side, and see if I can see leaping drops of squash, to eliminate the static theory.

I actually have an essay to write still, and it's 4:24am local time. Fuck a duck!

a cup of... squash? pray tell, what is this concoction? you mean like the vegetable? i sure hope not, that doesn't sound appetizing at all....

not sure what's going on here, but it reminds me of another science question some had asked... seems this guy had been storing a bottle of schnapps of some flavor in his freezer.. the contents didn't ever freeze solid, but as soon as he opened the bottle and began to pour some into a glass, the liquid rapidly froze up... the purported reason was that while in the bottle, the liquid was pure, and there was nothing for the ice crystals to attach to and begin freezing... once the liquid was poured into a glass, however, some small impurity (a speck of dust perhaps) entered the equation, and gave the ice something to bond to...

that explanation sounds dubious to me... anyone here have another? and OP, sorry i can't answer you question....

Bubbles in the water coming out?

Where I live squash is a stronger (and better) version of lemmonade, solo for example.

I'm not sure of the details of the situation, but what you're describing does sound very much like it has something to do with charge. Static, magnetism, something of that nature...although I have no idea why the liquid would be magnetized.

Squash is vegetable in England too, but squash is generally used to refer to a very strong fruit flavoured drink that needs to be diluted with water before being drunk.

I accidentally left a beer in the freezer at a party the other night. The next morning I remembered, and hoping it hadn't expanded too much, retrieved it. The whole inside of the bottle was full of was looked like solid ice. I opened it, but rather than it being solid ice, it was a load of almost beer slush, which shot out to a height of roughly 1.5 metres. IT WAS AWESOME.

I was about to ask how you'd drink a squash.

Hrm... You'd prolly enjoy the mintos+diet coke, if you haven't done it already.
