I need to reformat my pc, but it figures it decided to update some new Windows Vista updates the day I was going to do this. Now it boots up, gets to the beginning screen of Windows Vista and says *Step 3 of 3 in process-0% Completed Do not turn off computer* and about 10 seconds after that it shuts down. I can't get to my desktop now and it won't boot up in safe mode either. I was wondering if there was a way I could delete my hard drive via DOS menus and then install Windows Vista again through there, because I can't get back to my desktop. I've tried everything =/ Thanks guys.

Uh I don't think your meant to post tech problems. However your first problem is that you have vista. Oh yeah try connecting it as a slave drive and getting you files out from there, thats what I would try and do.

Sorry bout that it's becoming a reaction my bad. Check my edit but i don't believe you can get it out by DOS, but i havent got too much experience with it. but serriously try attaching it as a slave to a primary hard drive as long as the drive isn't fucked that should work.

Can you go into the BIOS and set the computer to boot through the CD/DVD before the HDD? If you make that change you should be able to put your Vista install disc and the computer will boot from the disc instead of the hard drive. Vista's install lets you delete / add partitions and format them, if that's what you are looking to do.

Do the format / install, then download the updates.

Ah, okay. Thanks, I'm going to try that right now.

As for bad rider, its alright. Its just that after hearing the dumb vista comments, you start to get defensive right as soon as one comes at ya =P

dude, what the hell? You stole my avatar! Now I won't be able to find myself easily in threads. I take it as a compliment, but it still will get confusing.

My only real problem with it is the confusion it would cause me. Other than that, I don't really mind. Thanks though.

Edit- Just found the thread where you said that you were stealing other peoples... I actually do find it funny, I was just surprised. I opened the thread and did a double take, like "Woah, I didn't know I already helped that guy with his computer problems... oh wait, that's not me."
