The basement would like to disagree.

You got funked!
Now if we said this everytime someone quoted John Funk, this could work.

OT: I can't think of memes myself. I'm not random enough. They occur naturally and I don't think we need to worry about them. As long as the internet is free, memes will continue to spawn.

And this, right here, is the difference between a meme and an inside joke. What of this basement? I'm here. I've never heard of it. Until now. WTF is it?

A meme in the true sense transcends any single URL on the internet. They are all-pervasive. Whatever this basement is, however, is not...

Hey, here's one! Using the word "meme" to indicate that you are about to use the restroom, such as, "I'm gonna go drop a huge meme." or "I just lost about 15 pounds with that meme."

It would give this topic a whole new meaning, and let's face it, it's still funnier then lolcats.

Of course, so is the holocaust, but still...

The sheer amount of hatred brewing over the term "lol" in general might very breed the lolocaust within this generation.

Ok, never mind what I said, "Lolocaust" is now a meme. I don't know how, but it is. It has to be.

It's generally believed that if you have to force a meme, it's not that funny to begin with. A meme should stand, and spread, on its own merit.

Besides, the Escapist forums already have a meme; Don't go into the basement.

If you intentionally try to create a meme, then you are destined to fail.

There isn't a spin-off of the Advice Dog that isn't annoying.
I thought Blastoise Dad/Pokedads was kind of funny.

I think it'd be possible to create a meme, but you'd have to be a genius of random comedy and the way you introduced a meme would have to be akin to Inception in its sneakery. You'd have to make everyone think that it was just an unplanned Internet joke, but that can be extremely difficult. Even if you succeeded, the meme you made could simply die out for other reasons.
