Dude I would love to see this happen, but I don't see it. He was selling DVDs of the show first and second season to fund the third season but that stopped three episodes in, around 50 I think., and used the money to start other video series. To be honest I see him getting the money, then having the game fall to the wayside so he can work on other projects.
While I will admit he is a bit ADHD when it comes to his project, I don't totally see this one falling apart as easily. He's been working on making some functional game for the past few years(I'm not totally sure, but I think it's at least 3), and while he's found reasons to scrap those ideas, it was never because he was bored with them, he just couldn't produce a well polished game with such systems that he worked with. Now, he's worked his ass off for the past few months(I know it isn't much time, but that's the point of the kickstarter) developing the base of the game, and while he doesn't have much set up, he does have the core level editor with the monsters and characters made already, so he just needs to use that to create a coherent game. The reason why the DVD money sort of fell through is because there wasn't enough to truly fund even the rest of season 3, which was only the first of other goals through the DVD sales. That might have been discouraging to the point that he wanted to try other projects. However, it's been a little over a week now, and he's made it half way to the goal he'd need to work full time on the game for two years for a finished product. He still has 3 weeks to make enough money to fund it, and while the momentum has slowed, I still think that since so many of his fans are truly showing that they want to see this game happen(He's already sold 5 $1,000 rewards and a $10,000 reward on kickstarter, people want this game) that he couldn't just toss this aside; I'm positive he will follow through on this, even if he doesn't reach his $100,000 goal. He has enough to fund it for a year already, and with the three weeks left he'll surely make a few more thousand. His fans have spoken, and he won't be so willing to drop this one like Unforgotten Realms got dropped, especially since this is something that he truly has wanted to do himself anyway.
PS I'm a giant nerd of this guy, that's how I know so much about his work for the game and for the show, I don't see him letting his fans down.
