Hello escapists, I have come to join the ranks in the forums. I figured there might be some sort of introduction thread. But, I could find no such topic, so here I am. If someone could redirect me to a thread like that I can correct myself and post there.

Anyhow, I am an Xbox/PC gamer who would like to discover some good games out there without the rent and error method. My preferred game genres and RPG's and Shooters. I'm willing to try anything if at least someone enjoyed it. Thanks in advanced for the help!

Welcome DoomDispenser,

Troll GameFAQs.com, see something you like and youtube it. You can sort everything by genera and sub-genera I believe so it shouldn't be difficult to find something that has been tailored to your needs.

Shooters are pretty straight forward, but what kind of RPG's do you like most Western, or Japanese?

Well mostly western, but as long as it isn't turn based fighting, I'm up for it.(past games I've enjoyed include KOTOR, Fable, Assassin's Creed, and Oblivion)

There is an introduction thread, but it takes a while to find. Someone will no doubt post a link to it soone (probably NewClassic or nil_cypher), so no worries. As it happens, welcome to the Escapist, you'll probably get dictated the rules to you by a certain someone (looks shiftily to one side at approaching poster...), who you'll meet when he arrives here, but just make sure to remember not to troll or post pointless threads or comments (sorry, but we've had many problems in the last couple of weeks with trolls, more so than usual).

Anyway, as I say, welcome to the Escapist and I hope you enjoy your time here. Don't feel too intimidated by the more experienced posters, and have a great time :D

Yes, but you also predicted that it would either be Nuke or Nils, making your prediction null and void.

Well, going by those criteria, you're likely to enjoy RPG-style FPS games. As such, a few I could recommend would be Bioshock (PC or 360), Fallout 3 (PC or 360), or System Shock 2 (PC).

In lieu of those suggestions, for standard FPS, Halo series, Half-Life series, Calls of Duty, and Rainbow Six series.

For traditional RPGs, you're pulling from a pretty thin net. You could go with Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean titles, or possibly Blue Dragon if you want the really old-school feel for an RPG.

Ultimately, welcome to The Escapist. If you need anything, let me know. I'm usually around to help.

You forgot Deus Ex (PC or PS2).

Actually, I believe it was boredom.
Just keep telling yourself that. Maybe it will make it true.

Welcome, Citizen.

Remember to check the guidelines, use the search button and be nice as much as possible.
And remember - If you can only think of a topic that you could fit the first post into a text message, you're doing it wrong.

Have a nice day, a cookie and remember to listen to our wonderful Moderators and Staff.

On topic: Hello...
The great Rotten one knows no jealousy. I simply felt the need to rain on his parade for some unknown reason.
Jealousy?
Actually, I believe it was boredom.
You should both be jealous, I mentioned nuke and nils, so you were both left out ;) I could make it up to you with this lovely Black Forest Gateux though...

Let me second ol' Nuke above me here. Welcome, and know that I am here for any questions, especially regarding the RP forum, as the RP Encourager and Helper.

As for games along those lines, I can recommend Call of Duty 4 (FPS), Mass Effect (Action-RPG, a must), and I also found Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom (RPG) to be pretty fun. You might also want to check out Dead Space (third-person survival horror-action, with RPG elements) and an old classic: Condemned (first person survival horror with combat and puzzle solving).

Ok I thought I'd come and say hello, someone was offering cake. Balck forest gateau? Damn, I hate fruit and chocolate together...

Oh well, welcome, beer fridge is in that corner, pool table over there. Make yourself at home.

Game wise, erm, I second what NewClassic and Higurashi have said.
