Ah the hiccups, a frequent annoyance we all have to live with.
What is your method for curing the hiccups?

Get someone to to press the thumbs against your temples and with their index fingers behind your ears. Moderately hard, it really works. Seriously.

I hold my breath and concentrate on nothing else. I've also heard that if you have someone plug your ears while chugging a 12 or more oz of water, and you finish it in one drink, it'll get rid of them.

My guess is the best answers will come from doctors. Any doctors in the house?

Take a very deep breath, the deepest you can, and hold the air in, not letting it out, drink a glass of water slowly, very little sips, then slowly exhale. It works for me all the time.

Doctors don't really know the cause of hiccups or any real scientific 'cure'. You are stuck with remedies, I'm afraid.

I do have a P.H.D. in awesomeness, but I don't think that applies here.

I just say "Oh shift keys, I seem to have the hiccups," and proceed to (un)intentionally annoy everyone in the room. Works for me.

I just take a breath and hold it in, making sure it's gone straight to the diaphragm, because hiccups are an irregularity in your breathing, right? Holding your breath like that is a "Reset" key.

Lemon juice

Seriously, just try it. They go away instantly, it only takes a small sip, and it never fails.

Everyone says that their cure "Never fails".

I have tried at least half of the miracle cures on this thread with no success.

I'm telling you that skipping up my cure would be a very, very foolish thing to do. It's seriously the only thing that truly works.

Or whatever, enjoy hiccuping forever.

Mine is scientific, not miraculous.

* Sacrifice a goat to your God of choice

* Dance the Macarena...backward

* Make love to an ugly virgin

* Order a burger from McDonald's and then throw it on the ground

* Start a fire, and then put it out using your 'stream of justice'

* Watch Clerks

If all else fails...

Or maybe I don't know, different things work for different people. Was your comment sarcastic?

I think it was.

Anyway, in terms of hiccups, the only thing I've ever tried to cure them is a scare.....Never worked for me.

Not that I mind hiccups- they're a good excuse for acting silly, from my own experience with them...
