Westerado: Double Barreled (Developed by Ostrich Banditos, published by Adult Swim, 2015)
Westerado: Double Barreled is an expanded edition of an earlier free browser game [http://www.adultswim.com/games/web/westerado/]. The gameplay is top down and all keyboard controlled; to shoot enemies you have to line up with them directly to the left or right of you by moving there. This sounds somewhat awkward, but it actually works rather well and encounters rarely feel unbalanced. The game's a loving homage to the western genre, where in order to pick up the clues needed to identify your brother and mother's murderer you must undertake a variety of traditional Western gunslinger jobs: helping out the ageing sheriff, picking a side in the conflict between the local ranchers and the oil tycoon, ending the conflict between the army and natives, and maybe hooking up with the lovely Miss Tress along the way. The mutually exclusive nature of some questlines mean the game has to be replayed to do everything, and the game's full of secrets to find, and a small but distinctive selection of weapons. Get it on Steam! [https://store.steampowered.com/app/275200/Westerado_Double_Barreled/]
Cosmoteer (Developed and published by Walternate Realities, 2011-2018)
Cosmoteer is a top down starship design and command game. Players must design starships with enough power, crew, and ammunition supplies, on a set budget, then deploy them against a variety of enemy ships. (There's also a sandbox mode with unlimited money for making gargantuan monstrosities, such as the game's logo above) When the game is finished it will be on Steam, but as it's still in development it's a free download from the developer's website.
