It's pretty damn impressive they're able to squeeze that much juice out of the PS3, but I wonder why they would put it out so late in it's life cycle. I would've expected it to be a launch title for the PS4 or something. Suits me fine, since I don't plan on getting a PS4, but at this rate it'll be out before the game is.
You lost me there, this isn't a PS4 launch we're talking about???

OT: Kojima didn't explain much after all, did he? A LOT of people focusing around photo-realism already. But I trust Kojima a bit more, he usually delivers the goods he promised.
Unless the plan's changed, Ground Zeroes and the Phantom Pain are both listed as PS3 and 360 games. No word on the Zone of Enders game though. I'd imagine a next-gen version is probably be in the works though, due to the lack of backwards compatibility between the PS3 and 4.
Jesus, makes no sense, but whatever fits their fancy, imo the release of a God of War game right now was also needless... BUT as long as it gets released for X360 as well I'll at least have a console to play it on; my PS3 broke a few months ago and I'm not wasting my money with another one with the PS4 up for release later this year or something...

New engine, great, yeah; just let me fly around with Jehuty some more

Zone of the Enders is/was a underrated franchise, especially compared to MGS. Sure, the voice acting was hammy & the story was full of holes, but I loved the style & it had some of the best three dimensional controls I've seen to this day. Can't wait for a sequel
I was expecting Jehuty to be in All-Stars, what with it being skilled at mid-range and melee.

OT:While I'm not too fond of MGS, it's just not my thing, I truly respect Kojima. I remember seeing their conference room rendered in Fox and was very impressed. Hope to see him succeed.

I'd suck Kojima's dick if he asked me and I'm a dude. MGS is probably my favourite franchise and i can't wait to play as big boss once more. I still can't believe how good and refreshing snake eater was when it came out. The way he makes those cutscenes and characters is just so good. I played through the original MGS and cried when psycho mantis "dies". Everything makes sense in the MGS games.

Fox Engine or no Fox engine i really don't care, the game is gonna look wonderful anyway and the game is gonna be wonderful. The ambitions of the Fox engine seem too high so it won't probably deliver but hey that's japan and kojima you can never know what's coming

Hideo Kojima's about the only person in the world who could get me excited about a game engine, especially one that doesn't actually run anything playable yet. Hey, it's even named after my favourite animal too :3

This is the best statement in this whole thread. You speak the absolute truth my friend. I'm always excited for more Metal Gear.

You broke the rules! You posted a Kojima article without the prerequisit image!

Let me fix that for you:

Damn, Kojima is riding that duck like a champ

Really? Photo realism? That's your selling point?

My how the industry has grown(read:stagnated).
Photorealism at decent framerates is a great selling point for an engine. As long as the engine simply powers the games, and is not actually the focus of them, it'll be fine.
Photorealism at decent framerates? That's a little vague, it's possible but there are other factors that also matter such as draw distance, resolution, AA, AS and so forth. Not much point playing a "Photorealistic" game when the there are massive texture pop-in problems, 3D objects appear at spitting distance and when levels are comprised with cubicles. Besides, It's been possible for years although this is more of a console revelation.

Cidbahamut still has a point, why focus on improving graphics?

I suppose it would have been impressive if it seemed like a game rather than pre-rendered mush.

My point is that there's nothing wrong with making a good, powerful engine, if it can be reused for multiple games (which I'm sure is what Kojima has in mind). It's not like they went out and said "let's make a game with good graphics and nothing else". For an ENGINE, great graphics (and I suppose stability) are exactly what they should be focusing on.

P.S. Thanks
