I'm not getting where you got the idea he is getting death threats to release a new MGS game.
Back when he wanted the series to end with Solid I believe he recieved death threats to do MGS 2, basically he's been pressured to continue the series.

Oh! Ah now that makes sense...

Now I understand why I stopped caring about MGS after the first one...or was it Raiden?

He was before, and with that teaser site up now, if it isn't Metal Gear, or if it is and he is less involved, I can imagine they would start up again.

I wonder if he means pressure from the fans or pressure from Konami...
I imagine both. Although I also imagine Konami aren't sending him death threats to keep the series going, so the fans would be the ones applying more pressure here.
I'll say more Konami. Metal Gear sells ALOT, so releasing a game with the MGS name will sell much more on release than a brand new franchise....or Zone of Enders!
True, but are Konami telling them that they will effectively stop his heart? I think not, and that's pretty much what the fans are saying here. I guess the fact that it makes an arse load of cash probably eggs him on.

God I hope this next title isn't MGS. I love it, but his talent is being wasted. Come up with something else or bring Snatcher into the current generation, I need more cyberpunk in my life.
I read that he was working on a new snatcher game with Suda 51, calling it Project 'S'.
Wait wait wait...Kojima and Suda? How did I not hear about something this awesome?

It is, after all, the best way to describe Kojima without words.
I don't know about that. I've heard people say he's off his rocker.
I know that pun is awful but with the duck being one of those rocking ones and all, I had to jump at the opportunity.

Pressure from the voices in his head that tell him to make more money.

Gimme my Zone of the Enders 3, drat you! Or at least remake Fist of Mars for a more powerful system so the graphics and gameplay can receive a much-needed boost in order to enhance the experience of playing what was probably the best text-based GBA game of all time!

He made Raiden to appeal to a female demographic, not to mention he wanted a wide eyed foil to Snake to be mentored by Snake.

The complaint about Raiden is "He's nothing like Snake" in the end thats true, which is why he existed in the first place. He was supposed to be a pretty boy who didn't approach the mission with utmost seriousness who had a nagging girlfriend.

After all the best way to show manipulation is with a character who has been manipulated all his life.

The original plan was for Rose to never show up so the player would question "Did she ever really exist or is his entire life a simulation?"
I never understood all the hate on Raiden. He was whiny, true, but there was nothing fundamentally wrong with him. Plus I liked how he started MGS2 as a by-the-book infiltrator, then grew more disillusioned as the game went on.

No matter how serious the expression on your face is, sitting on a kiddie ride will destroy it.
Or make you seem like a pedophile/serial killer.

I would only want Metal Gear done by people and companies who I am 100% sure are capable of not fucking it up.

Oh I'm not denying that one. I imagine the pressure would get a bit lighter if you go from corporate pressure and death threats, to just death threats.
Agreed. Such a change of pace can kill a man.

Or make you seem like a pedophile/serial killer.
:( But I enjoy Mr. Cloud's Sky Ride.

Seraph approves of this statement, more people must know the greatness that was the Fist of Mars.

I think you mean chafing.

And about his story telling ability, I agree with Yahtzee and always have thought this series could use an editor. Someone to come in and say "This is the third time we've had a conversation about this" and just remove some of the filler. On a side note I especially loved Yahtzee saying "People say a politician is a person who can talk for hours and never actually say anything. If that's true, Hideo Kojima could run for government and be emperor of the Universe by mid-afternoon." Before Yahtzee's review I thought I was all alone in my hating for the script of MGS games.

If they do a sequel for God's sake make it interesting enough that I don't skip through most of the chatter they do (did?) over the com where they sat there with their partially animated pictures just chatting with each other. If they quit doing it in favor of cutscenes, then I hope those get fixed as well.

But, with MGS getting game of the year and universal acclaim, I doubt much will change.

I only played 2 when it first came out, I won't say I'm a Metal Gear expert. I played a bit of 1 when i was younger, but I didn't own the console, so I spent most of my time on the first level just dicking with the guards. But I think 2 was about all I could take of Kojima's writing.

EDIT: On another note and similarish game, I really hope they get the next Splinter Cell right, Double Agent wasn't a bad game, it just wasn't Splinter Cell.

Probably both. I'm just glad someone in the video game industry knows when to end a series.

You know what? Mebbe I will review that. It was fun stuff. NEW TESTAMENT FTW!

Uh, this is to be expected. The man has his series, he doesn't want someone else to make a sequel and bastardize his vision of it.

Though I hope he continues to go ahead with new stuff.
