Or rather, it's a particle that matches the description of the Higgs Boson.

Basically, the Higgs Boson is an elementary particle that gives mass to other elementary particles, like quarks and electrons. Scientists have been searching for it for years, and now they probably have it. It explains the origin of mass, and that's just fantastic. I could elaborate, but you should probably just read the article, or google it. That'll explain it much better than I could.

The origin of mass? Why, it's in my pants!

And the world thinks nothing has changed :D
Well, in defense of the world, they only just announced the discovery. And besides, you know that it's a little "special." It can't help being this way.

Also, woah, the Biebster is throwing a fit? My god, this is the most important event of the last millenia! Someone get the nets and the cameras! We must capture it alive while it is in this volatile state!

But it's science!

This should be the most important news of the year so far.

Hey, I agree completely. But Justin Bieber is flashy and shiny, and the western world is basically a magpie when it comes to stuff like this. The news will get out, but in its own time. And as you said, there's science all up in this shit, and science doesn't affect their everyday lives as much as this does. I mean, science is the reason they exist at all, but knowing about it doesn't matter that much to them on the very small scale. It's should matter, but sadly, it doesn't.

Ruining my science.

We should do something about them.

It has already begun, I shot two of them on Sunday.

Magpie pie, anyone? Very tasty. Not much brain about them, though, which is the best part in my opinion.

It's okay, the forces of nature balance this out. Scientific findings don't make a huge splash in the west, but they stay around long after the Biebers of the world have faded away.

I doubt anyone will really care until a practical application is found. Most people don't concern themselves with physics of this level. And before you say "That's a shame," no, it really isn't.

Soooo I'd guess they are rewriting the first episode of the next season of Big Bang Theory as we speak. XD

Yet again, my first glance had me reading it as "Higgs Bison"

OH, EVERYTHING IS GOOD NOW.

He is? Are you saying that... Bieber is a robot?
Um... Yes... Isn't that common knowledge? Look deep into his eyes.

I think not.

I would be perfectly fine with a bison that was one of the fundamental parts of the universe. It just makes them that much more adorable.
