so I was just watching CNN and eating lunch when they cut into the cast to bring an important announcement that a Mexican 737 has been hijacked with 101 passengers on board, and if they dont get to talk to Mexican President Phillipe Calderon, they will blow up the plane, and they have confirmed a bomb on board.

there is no current link to this ATM but expect one in an hour or so.
Discuss?

EDIT: they have a live stream on the CNN website.

UPDATE: they released some people from the aircraft, no one a crew member.

It was item No. 547,863 on the Fox network. And Fox said 104.

Edit: Now it's on Übercast on the Fox network. Guess there's nothing else to report.

ha... coincidence... at the time of my reading this you have 737 posts...

anyway, back to the point...
People are going to die. either hijackers or passengers, there is no avoiding it.
It's a human-guided missile. only way to stop it is to shoot it down... but then there will be no survivors...

Fuck, I think I'll tune onto a new station for a while. Quick question, is the media concentrating on this at the moment since it's developing or are they just mentioning it?

Just checked, apparently passengers have been released, don't know what had happened though. Just says that they are safe. Plane's on the ground in Mexico City, hijacked in Cancun. Defense secretary is apparently heading there.

Oh those poor people. I would freak out in a situation like that and probably get myself killed.

Why do they want to talk to the president?

yeah ironic eh?

also, they said that about 80 people released, 20 left on board and the crew.

so the plane isn't airborne?

well, that raises their chances from my original low estimate...
this could turn out far better than any of my visualised scenarios :D
still... trapping themselves in a dead end like that...

These terrorists aren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed, if you know what I mean.

A couple days before 9/11...

Thank God they're safe. I'm going to start fearing planes if this keeps going on.
