So, I'm a brony. Kind of. I watch the show regularly, but it has never really crept into any other areas of my life, until recently.

Long story short, I brought a pair of Rainbow Dash and Applejack figures home that someone had left for a couple weeks at my work-place and were going to be thrown out.

My wife was confused, but I merely explained they were from the show, and they were going to be thrown out. Prior to this, she didn't know I watched the show. She let the matter drop for the time, so I didn't think anything more of it.

Then, just a few minutes ago, she comes up to me talking all serious about how she wants me to be able to be open with her. I wasn't sure where this was going, until she mentioned the figures. Chuckling, I explained about the show and how it was actually really good despite being primarily aimed at a younger audience. This was not her main concern, though.

In her own words: "I know some guys can go both ways even though they're with someone."

Once I realized what she was saying, I literally burst out laughing. She legitimately thought I was bi-sexual because I watch MLP. She thought I was subtly trying to hint because I was too afraid to say anything.

I assured her that I was not bi-sexual (or gay) and that I just like the show. I'm not really sure why I never admitted liking the show before, but I think part of me suspected this would be her reaction, and it was priceless.

So how about it? Anyone else have a similar experience? Any time someone close to you were concerned about your interests? (Doesn't have to be MLP)

Post note: I don't want anyone to think I have anything against people who are gay or bisexual. I just know I'm not. I considered it a few years ago, but came to the conclusion I'm just not attracted to men. I can tell when a guy is good looking, but it doesn't do anything for me.

I think the best part is that the two figures you brought home that were "hinting at bi-sexuality" happened to be Rainbow Dash and Applejack. Couldn't help but chuckle at that.

And people wonder why bronies sometimes consider admitting to watching MLP is like coming out of the closet XD.

That was a very funny story OP. I'v been thinking about getting a few figurines myself (for the sake of collection of course), but I'm pretty sure if I do I'd be getting strange looks from my family.

I opened up about my brony-ness to my family. My Mom thought it was great, in fact, she has even watched a couple of episodes with me. But My Dad just gave me the weirdest look and walked away shaking his head. I did get him to watch an episode though, and he seemed to react to it a little bit better.

Well, I'd say I can understand her reaction a bit because she is your wife. That usually you would share shows you like with her, even if it is embarrassing or something. Then again wtf do I know lol.

Inversely me being bisexual once I reveal that I am people tend to think i should start acting like a stereotypical gay guy.

I have asked what T.V. show is actually like, who i really want my room to like, how uncomfortable i must be in "normal clothing" what ever the fuck that even means, why i find pride parades annoying yet not offensive, if i still actually like women and most annoyingly i am supposed to know about fashion and I want both a Husband AND a wife.

Seriously, people need to know what they are talking about before they talk about it.

...

Your wife seriously thought you were gay or bi because you watch a TV show?

O...k...

On the plus side, plenty of material for being annoying there. Any time you watch any show (or do anything, really), you have an excuse to claim not to be a member or a completely unrelated group, which would get very annoying after a while.

hahaha, really laughed at that.
I haven't really had any similar stuff.
A few of my friends started a me being homosexual campaign a few years back but that was just for laughs, I think...

My friends told me I was too obsessed with Red Dwarf and Dark Tower, so I told them they were just a bunch of know-nothing smegheads who'd forgotten the face of their fathers.

In all seriousness, a lot of my mates thought I was a loon for liking Adventure Time (an enjoyment that's been stunted by the fact that it's not on TV or DVD over here), but nothing where, like most of the My Little Pony fans in this thread, I've had to come out about it.

I find it funny that your wife honestly thought you were gay/bi because of likely a show about Ponies. My friend reacted in the same manner, but then after a while he admitted to being a Brony too. Just try to get your wife on board with the show, and if not it isn't the end of the world.

You SURE you're not bisexual? Or gay? Don't worry, its legal in almost every state except Texas now.

THANK YOU.

Serously, why the hell would I ever watch this:

When I could be watching THIS:

Seriously, how the HELL do the producers of AT get this shit past the radar? It's either blood money or wizard magic, I don't see any other way.

Yes, a show about ponies. A show with a cast of small, all-female horses with such gender neutral names like Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie.

I tried getting into the whole Pony thing once. About 5 seconds into my viewing, and after having set all prejudice aside, someone said something about a cutie mark.

It was about that time my dick quickly and painfully shriveled and attempted to recede into my abdomen.

When I told my mum she said, "Is this a roundabout way of you telling me you're gay?"

Thanks mum -.-

I had to tell my girlfriend about it, she thought it was some kind of joke at first and then was very confused. She also didn't believe me that it was genuinely good until I got her to watch a few episodes. Now we watch it together :)

I like to read BL manga. (Yes, yes I know I'm a horrible dirty fangirl who smells and writes bad fanfiction. I get it I get it.)

I hinted to it with my mother and slowly over time she figured it out.

This led her to be worried I was gay.

I don't understand that logic...I like the sight of two bishonen together...so that must mean I crave pussy.

I set her straight (ha, straight), informing her that this did not mean she had to worry about her daughter's heterosexuality.

She was relieved...though still perplexed with my odd taste.
