So, I'm a brony. Kind of. I watch the show regularly, but it has never really crept into any other areas of my life, until recently.
Long story short, I brought a pair of Rainbow Dash and Applejack figures home that someone had left for a couple weeks at my work-place and were going to be thrown out.
My wife was confused, but I merely explained they were from the show, and they were going to be thrown out. Prior to this, she didn't know I watched the show. She let the matter drop for the time, so I didn't think anything more of it.
Then, just a few minutes ago, she comes up to me talking all serious about how she wants me to be able to be open with her. I wasn't sure where this was going, until she mentioned the figures. Chuckling, I explained about the show and how it was actually really good despite being primarily aimed at a younger audience. This was not her main concern, though.
In her own words: "I know some guys can go both ways even though they're with someone."
Once I realized what she was saying, I literally burst out laughing. She legitimately thought I was bi-sexual because I watch MLP. She thought I was subtly trying to hint because I was too afraid to say anything.
I assured her that I was not bi-sexual (or gay) and that I just like the show. I'm not really sure why I never admitted liking the show before, but I think part of me suspected this would be her reaction, and it was priceless.
So how about it? Anyone else have a similar experience? Any time someone close to you were concerned about your interests? (Doesn't have to be MLP)
Post note: I don't want anyone to think I have anything against people who are gay or bisexual. I just know I'm not. I considered it a few years ago, but came to the conclusion I'm just not attracted to men. I can tell when a guy is good looking, but it doesn't do anything for me.
