I have to do a small project for my history class and I don't want to do something that everybody knows about. So can anyone give me any ideas of what to do it on?
Something in between 1950-1990 and something that seems interesting but nothing really known or big...Thank You

You just want something that occurred between 1950 and 1990 that not everyone knows about? You're not going to narrow it down at all? No particular regions you're interested in? Do you want to write about a conflict? A particular type of event?

There's the 1970 FLQ Crisis [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLQ_Crisis], in which a group of militant French-Canadians kidnapped some politicians, which led to invocation of the War Measures Act and the dramatic temporary expansion of police powers.

In 1976, Israeli commandos staged Operation Entebbe [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Entebbe], in which they went to a Ugandan airport where some terrorists had landed a hijacked airplane and were keeping the hostages, killed the hijackers and some Ugandan troops, and airlifted the hostages to safety.

There is also, of course, the 1986 Chernobyl disaster [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl_disaster], which is more well-known to your average American high school student than the other two suggestions, but also pretty interesting. A lesser-known but similar incident is the 1957 Kyshtym disaster [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyshtym_disaster].

Are these along the lines of what you're looking for?

1950 to 1990?

Well, lets see what I can think of off hand...

There's the Serdlovsk anthrax leak [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sverdlovsk_anthrax_leak] where a Soviet bio-weapons facility infected a town with anthrax.

Or the shuttle mission STS-41-G [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-41-G] where the Soviets tracked the shuttle with a laser [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terra-3] that was powerful enough that it temporarily blinded some of the crew.

How about the Jonestown cult suicides? [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonestown]

Maybe there was that time when the French sunk the Rainbow Warrior. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinking_of_the_Rainbow_Warrior]

Perhaps Operation Opera [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera] when Israel bombed an Iraqi nuclear facility?

Dude, all sorts of stuff happened. All you have to do is look.

Yes actually Thank You, I didn't expect anyone to actually put anything specific, I had the Chernobyl Incident in mind but I already did it before on another project. Thank You again.

Thank You for some ideas and I was looking but I just didn't see anything that appealed to me and I am really lazy today.
