Isn't this stretching things? So Doom 3, Half-Life 2, and Halo 2 were released in the same year. They've all had installments between now and the present.
Anyway, if you asked me to rate the 2004 games, it would go Doom 3>Halo 2>Half-Life 2. But if we're looking at the games now, I'm not particuarly enthused about any of them. Doom Eternal could be good, but it's got to fix the mistakes of Doom 2016. Halo Infinite is a game that's obstensibly coming out in 2020, but we still know nothing about it, and what little we do know has me uneasy. And Half-Life : Alyx? That can be summed up as the following:
Valve: We're making another Half-Life game
Me: That's neat
Valve: It stars Alyx
Me: That's neat
Valve: It's an interquel
Me: Sure. We all know you can't count to 3.
Valve: It's VR exclusive
Me: Fuck off.
So, yeah. History isn't repeating itself for me. It's more a case of all three franchises being on the edge of irrelevance and/or apathy for me.
