Hitting the Reset Button

I'm long overdue to hit the reset button. My personality and world-view have become an ever more jumbled and complicated mess over the years of my (relatively brief) life. I've somewhat lost track of who I am and what I believe, the only real constant of my life being that I've become increasingly lazy, introverted, bitter and just... strange (possibly as a result of being my only source of amusement most of the time.) My circle of friends has shrunk down to about one person who lives with me who I don't even particularly care for. So, like I said, I need to reset.

But really, is that possible? Can a person simply clear everything they think they know off the table and start again? Has anyone here ever tried? Has anyone ever succeeded? I could use some help, and these days people on the internet are more or less the only people I know/feel comfortable talking to.

How do you go back to basics and start fresh?

Move, change your name, learn a new language, change how you look, change your back ground and forget everything you ever knew. Not a reasonable answer but really just let go of what you think and believe and let things come up to you and how you feel about each thing individually. and be a bit more outgoing if possible talk to random people and become friends maybe, or check out dagorhir and get active :D

You could try getting Amnesia. But that probably isn't the safest thing to do.
Indeed, I'd prefer suggestions that don't involve brain damage.

Moving somewhere new is a good way. I'm gonna have to start afresh when I move for University, 70 miles is a long distance in this country.

Personality is dictated by both nature and nurture. Short of artificially changing nurture, there is no reset button.

Moving is good. It could be something simple that keeps you occupied I guess. New sport / hobby? Who knows.

Heh... you know, sometimes I would think that I would love to do that. I'm pretty sure it's impossible, unless you move to a different country all on your own. Even if everything goes horribly wrong, at least you'll have a story.

Also, it looks like you need to go watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Might change your mind a bit.

Well, you could build a time machine or the remote in 'Click' (i think its that, the film where he can skip, pause translate and stuff with a remote but its real life). Im pretty sure that would work

You may be thinking about this too much in technical terms.
