Ive been trying to get a server running for quite some time and its been to no avail. I've been told that the only way that I can accomplish this is to forward ports. This would normally be no problem, however, there is an obstacle withstanding. I have my D-Link router all setup with all the ports open that I need but, My local ISP has issued me a modem that operates as a switch for two TVs and Two internet lines. (4 lines total) They have refused to tell me the admin username and password for the router as well as refused to come and do it for me. I Told them exactly what ports I wanted open as well as why I wanted them open. It made no difference, the answer was still a "no". I was hoping that there might be another way to get a server setup without having to bother with that modem.
I am wanting to setup a server to play with some friends that (regretfully) live several hours away. If I can get this to work out well then I might leave it up and running on the weekends. Of course, everyone here would be invited.
Ive "Borrowed" several different maps from different severs just to test this out. So far, I haven't been able to get that far.
