HI all! I'm planning on buying two "oldies" for the holidays. Fallout 3 and Bioshock 1. Thing is, I'm not sure which version I should get.
1- The steam versions are $20 each and I'm positive they'll go down in price during holidays, but... you know... they're digital copies. No fancy boxes to decorate my room or cute little manuals to skim through, not even achivements to push myself to get everything in the game

2- The ps3 versions, which sell for $33,75 each. They control with a gamepad, so precision won't be the same. But they still include everything I mentioned earlier.

I know what you want to say. It depends on your personal taste, but, well, what would YOU do?

personal taste for me is ps3 so i gotta go for ps3 but i hope you have a large harddrive for the installs (i think F3 has either 4 or 5 gig)and id go for the GOTY edition if you do as for Bioshock 2 i remember the target by me selling the limited edition for around 20 or 30 so if you have a target near you id see if they have ne since the price is the same for all targets. also it depends on your computer if it has better performance then the PS3 then get them for the PC since you can get mods for Fallout to make it much more interesting which you cant do on the PS3 however i dont know if you can transfer the achievements from steam to the PSN to get the trophies so if your into getting trophies i dont know if youll get them.

i got Fallout 3 for ps3 but only because i got 10 percent off at work since we dont sell pc games and this was pre GOTY if i could redo i might go PC just for the mods

I would probably rather PLAY those two particular games on the PC. However, you could say that I am somewhat of a collector, and I like owning physical copies of my games.

Ultimately, I would probably go for the PS3 versions, but as I said, only because I'm a huge nerdy collector who likes having physical copies of just about everything ;)

I would buy Fallout 3 for the PC, that's a given. The sheer amount of mods and the smoother control is more than enough incentive to.

As for BioShock, it's completely up to you. I own the PS3 version, and I've played it on the PC extensively: there are little to no differences that come to mind, with the exception of challenge rooms, which I can confirm are on the PS3, though I'm uncertain of the PC.

Happy shopping.

If you go with PC you can get all the cool mods that add some replayability. Also it's cheaper and then with your saved money you can buy more games! So, I'd choose PC.

The PC version of Fallout 3 has all the same achievements the X-Box 360 version has, as it's a GFWL game. You even get the same achievement pop-up sound and notifications as you earn them, which is nice.

Regardless of achievements though, the PC version is the one to get just for the sheer amount of awesome mods available, such as the Warhammer: 40K power armour and weapons, or the Groovatron - a ray gun which makes people dance.

Bioshock I'm not too sure about, I got it for my PC via digital distribution and found it to be an unoptimised, buggy mess which kept giving my PC the BSOD... I don't know if that was a coincidence or related to the SecureROM that originally shipped with it (I couldn't really find a good answer, so I just stopped playing it).

Perhaps you should make compromise and get Fallout 3 on the PC for the mods, but buy Bioshock for your PS3 because it will possibly be better optimised and more stable.
