While normally I would be timid about such a film being made, the Mass Effect mythos is already very cinematic. I could imagine the game being portrayed well on the silver screen.

I've mulled this over, and come to the conclusion that I'll allow a film adaptation.
On one condition.
They must include this line:

Ehhh... hell no. RPG's don't work that well as movies. Come to think of it, I don't know of any RPG's that were even made into movies.

At any rate, the movie's plot could take any one of the six thousand permutations that the game lets you choose from.
FF advent children made a good movie Imo.

This type of thing does have great potential to be an enjoyable film but looking back on video game movies over the past however many years makes my cynical instincts kick in.

Really? I heard it was terrible...

I don't know, isn't Mass Effect heavily based on Star Trek and Star Wars?

I doubt a Mass Effect movie could stand on it's own.
Also, I keep hearing this. What the h*ll? Where did this idea come from? Star Trek and Star Wars are very different takes on sci-fi, and they're the biggest. Not only is Mass Effects world very unique, but if I DID consider it "based" in those worlds, then I would have to do the same for damn near every sci-fi in the last 20 years that wasn't written by Philip K. Drug-Addict.
I disagree. As good as Mass Effect is, it's pretty much "Star Wars KOTOR:The Royalty-Free Version"

Why do people assume that the movie has to be an adaptation of the game?
Well I suppose they could do Mass Effect film that's an adaptation of the novel Dune, but that would be stupid.

Of course that would. But they could make a movie set in the Mass Effect universe is what I mean, rather than using the plot of the game itself.

You know they're just going to sell out to whoever hands them the biggest fistful of cash and it's going to be another C grade installment of the shittiness that is video game turned movie productions.

It was ok, mainly because of the CGI. If it had been real-life actors it would've been atrocious.

Wait, do they let us choose how the film will end?
In theater while watching the movie a message pops up. Attention, if you choose that Shepard kills Wrex please exit this hall and go to hall number 5, everyone else please stay calm and enjoy the movie.

OT: No or maybe if like Neill Blomkamp did it.

I feel a bit disappointed with Mass Effect 2. Though, the story is good, just the gameplay seems far more restricting in a way with things like weapons. If both games were adapted into a film, then they could work quite well. It's not like Bioware doesn't write great stories, the start to ME2 is incredible.

Just for the love of god don't base it off of the main game's story arc. Have it expand the universe like the books did.

That would still be an adaptation.

Would they have a Male or Female Shepard?

I vote for: Female Shepard + Liara romance. Giggity.

I got a feeling that they are probably going to let Uwe Boll direct it so... NO!
