I've been planning on getting a new card for a while now, and since Nvidia is offering Batman: Arkham Asylum free with the purchase of one of their new cards. So I decided, what the Hell? Might as well get it now. Anyways, I've been eye-balling a card over at Newegg.com that got a lot of praise, though it seems now that Newegg isn't offering the game with the card anymore.

So I'm unsure of what I'm going to do now, and was hoping if you could recommend me a card that comes with the game. Since I'm a cheap bastard I have decided to pick from these cards, [http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=br_lf_m_1000416121_grlink_1?ie=UTF8&plgroup=1&docId=1000416121] from Amazon. There aren't a lot of reviews on any of them so I'm hoping you guys can help out. Cheers to spending $200.

The GTX 260 is a good card. It'll handle Batman with no problems. The cheaper MSi one should be fine.

You'll find Batman on sale for $20 soon enough (or grab a used copy), so put that off for a little while and get a Radeon HD 5850. They just came out, and although you'll have to pay a few bucks more, the price/performance is ridiculously better.

Given the lousy state of the PC port, i expect it to be bargain binned before the next wave of Nvidia GPUs, which will be before Xmas. Either take the ATI mentioned above or wait for the 300 series. Nvidia always has a poor taste of games they give away with their GPU's so don't buy them exclusively for that.

Yeah...I'm not following you just because of that...

Advice on graphics cards (note, this is based on my experience, and is not all technically provable "fact").

For gaming, go with Nvidia over ATI every time. I own multiple computers, and have seen numberous titles where a technically worse Nvidia card will handle the game far better than a superior ATI (note, the cars weren't hugely different, but the ATI was still better, and the framerate was much much worse).

Right now, I'd recommend the GTX 275, handles almost as well as the 285 and it's probably priced somewhere between $200 and $250 nowadays.

I'd have to very strongly recommend getting entry level-mid range nvidia GPUs. I've had two kill themselves and have generally found them to be supported poorly. I had an ATI midrange card some years ago and had no problems, I haven't any clue if they have maintained their level of support however. I haven't been following this gen of graphics cards enough to give any specific information :(

Pretty much this. Though, for another twenty bucks, you can get the 275.

Man, I don't know what Batman you've played, but I've had zero problems with it on the PC. Runs great @ 1280x1024 (my monitors native res), no AA, and everything turned up, with no PhysX. I had no problems with the controls, or the camera, and I found no bugs. It's a really fun game.

For the same twenty bucks you can also get the GTX260XXX, which is superior in every single way other then the ease of spelling it's name.

Yeah. Batman: The Curse of the Scarecrow was pretty bad.

Then again, that NEW game, Batman: Arkham Asylum runs awesome on the PC, obviously. It would be kinda funny if you were referring to that.

I have it running great on a single 8800GTS so there's probably going to be no problems as long as you get something fairly modern.

1 find out what games you want to play

2 then go to a site like xbitlabs to find out what card offers more bang per buck

example: Valve titles run alot better on AMD gpus, while Bioware games favor nvidia alot.
