So, I've been on a sort of RPG/Lootfest/Diablo clone gaming binge lately.

Started with the release of Borderlands 2, and then my brother introduced me to Torchlight II (which is probably as close to Diablo as I'll ever get, seeing as I missed out on the first two, and my laptop can't handle the third).

That said, I think I have a hoarding issue.

I routinely fill up my stash/storage with weapons and gear that I'll literally never use, but want to keep anyways.

My justification for this behaviour is that I might roll another character more suited for the items in question, but I never do. I think I need an intervention.

But I digress, what are some of the Escapist's favorite lootfest-esque games, and how do you deal with the overwhelming amount of stuff that you find?

In the case of Borderlands I make sure that with the 4 guns I have equipped I can do anything. If I ever hoard its because I need the change. For example, a few days ago I had two corrosive guns, both very good, so I decided that I'd change them out when I run out of ammo.

I loved Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. But yeah, I had a similar issue with loot. I'd use the gems to build swords that could handle any situation and would end up only having very little space to pick up new loot drops. This led to constant trips back to town to sell off tiny amounts of vendor trash for barely enough to cover the cost of all the portal scrolls.

Man, I loved those games so much.

Champions of Norrath was the same. There were so many cool weapon designs it was difficult to throw something away when it looked so bad ass. Buster swords and giant hammer shaped like eagle heads, scimitars of all manner of interesting designs. Again, really loved those games.

Hording good loot is really OP in Torchlight when you roll new characters. My Veteran Embermage is currently using some gear 20-30 levels beyond what she should have. Twinking OP.

Yeah, I have mixed feelings about the whole way they handled item requirements in Torchlight, on the one hand, I love being able to use something super overpowered for my level because I pumped a certain stat, and on the other hand, it has the potential to break the game for future characters.

Then there's a part of me that wishes there were no such thing as stat and level requirements, and that anybody could equip anything.

They'd have to balance it so that your chances of finding good loot are really small, but that would be kind of awesome.

I think an easy fix would be to include a minimum level requirement. Something like 10-20 levels lower than the normal level requirement.

Currently playing, and loving, TL2, and I don't tend to keep much of what I find. I did find myself hoarding socketables, but once I realized you could remove them from gear or combining them to make better ones I find myself using them frequently.

I do, however, find that I'm loathe to upgrade my gear. You find so much stuff that is slightly better than what you already have that I get a sort of paralysis and only end up upgrading once it's totally clear my old gear has been left in the dust by even common drops.

Err that pretty much why I make multiple characters in a rpg with alot of weapons/ armours that cannot be equip all by a single class, granted I don't make mule characters as I do play them all.

I'm a total loot whore, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. :D

Borderlands 2 has been scratching that lootfest itch for me quite nicely (and so did the first Borderlands), and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Diablo II was and will always be that way for me too, no matter how many times I've played that game, I will always go searching for loot. Always looting for better armor and whatnot for my character of the playthrough.

Skyrim did that for me too, but not as great as the other games I've mentioned did since the loot most of the time either were decent or just plain sucked.

Besides Borderlands 2 the latest game was Dragon`s Dogma and before that it was Dead Island. Looting makes replayability so much more fun. I love searching new cool looking weapons and armor and upgrade them.

It all started with Diablo for me but that was ages ago and i don´t remember playing much games with looting in the current generation.

I''m the same way with ammo. If I see an ammo pack on the ground and have full ammo, I'll intentionally fire off a few shots so I won't waste any precious ammo. Sweet, sweet ammo.

Diablo 2 was a lot of fun. This type of game isn't really my thing but I enjoyed Diablo 2.

Well i knows that i likes games with batshit amounts of loots to be looted.

As such im having much fun with Borderlands 2 at this time and in the improbable event that i get bored with it, i can get Torchlight 2 and start the cycle again.

Well Borderlands 2 kind of encourages loot hoarding. You can upgrade your backpack to 27 slots, you have an upgradeable bank and Claptrap gives you a locker for the express purpose of twinking out your alts. Pretty much all of my secondary characters use at least one hand me down weapon. My Gunzerker has like ten.

You could try Sacred 2.
Tons of loot and an easy management system (break down useless items anywhere for 1/2 gold). I have about 500,000,000 gold. The problem is, aside from reviving my mount, there's nothing to actually buy since I get so much loot...
Upon looking it up, I must say:

OH MY GOOD LORD, YES! GIVE ME!

*Ahem*

Seriously though, looks awesome.

Probably gonna see if I can get my hands on it soon.
