Considering I've done Higher Computing, Advanced Higher Computing (equivilent of first year UNI) and currently studying Bsc Computing at Abertay Uni, I think I know a bit more about the development process than you do as I actually had to do it!

I can tell your a fanboy down to how you try and defend Home with your previous posts with vigor, so no matter what I say you will still try and defend it.
Yeah, so I've got a Bsc in Product Design (aka engineering) and I work in the game industry, so lah-dee-dah. And I know the correct usage of your/you're so THERE.

Why does the fact that I enjoy Home make me a "fanboy"? Because I enjoy it? I like the fact that I can jump on and meet other gamers from all over the country, so sue me. My friend list went from 10 to 50 overnight. Yeah, I think it's fun, and a great FREE product. It has it's problems, but so does every other social network.

I've heard of "interesting" and home isn't it, fanboy.

An utter waste of time and money. I don't think Second Life types play consoles so much. There is no cyber sex. =)
Not interesting to you, maybe. The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean someone else doesn't.

And about the "nerd" thing, pot- meet kettle.

Hahaha, what do you think this board is about?

Your a fanboy because you haven't been able to accept the tiniest piece of criticism towards your product/company of choice. You have argued against several other members which just makes it appear that you are a fanboy.

Also having a degree in Product Design does not qualify you to know about software development. They are two completely different areas of work. If you did infact know about software development then you would know how my statements about how they should have already sorted this out a long time ago to be true. If you challenge me about software development then I will reply obviously. So please don't reply unless you have some conclusive evidence to prove me wrong, otherwise I'll stick to my specialty and you stick to yours.

Just to set the record straight, YOU started arguing with me, bud. Why don't you go reread my original post and tell me what about it was so fanboy worthy, other than my general defense of it. I'll defend something I like, end of story.

My degree isn't what makes me knowledgeable about game development, it's the three years I've worked closely with designers and artists in the game industry. Alpha is art and feature lock, beta is final QA. You don't know anything about me, so don't presume you know more.

:::EDIT::: I'm not saying I know more about software engineering as you, but I know plenty about the development process:::

As for "conclusive evidence".... lighten the hell up.

From the reports I've heard, Home almost sounds better this way. Shame though, it might have been good had Sony put anything interesting in it.

here's your original post, which was a quote of my first one "IT'S STILL BETA. It's out PRECISELY to find exploits and fix before final release. Ever heard of QA? Well, they can't always find everything", using capitals is a sure way to make yourself enemies as you are obviously distraught at what was said. You also carried this sort of behaviour and defense on other peoples posts.

As I said before, software development is different from product design, therefore our testing iterations are different. The problems presented in the topic are not product design faults, they are software development problems. Designers and artists will not give you an insight into the software development problems shown here.

You started by questioning my comment then going onto spewing your fanboyish comments about others aswell. From this I can see that you are the one that needs to lighten up, especially when I had only said that due to the long development time, these sorts of problems should have never been in the public beta.

Just leave it

Sony would probably force PS3 users to go into Home at least once (go through he process of making an avatar etc.) much in the same way 360 users were forced to create an avatar when the NXE update rolled around. So going into it at least once will most likely be unavoidable. I may be wrong, though. That's just how I think it would work out.
Nope, completely wrong to my knowledge atleast. If you want to get into home, click the icon on the XMB and then you set up everything for HOME. As far as I know, they don't force you to go into HOME. It's not like it's the "New Playstation Experience!" or anything.

And I would like to just say to the actual article;

No shit Sherlock?

Obviously someone was going to hack HOME eventually. As for HOME itself, it's alright to say the least. I really don't know why everyone gets their panties is a huge twist over it, it's an application, end of story. Not something you do every day for 2 hours, maybe once or twice a week for 30 or so minutes to keep you occupied.

While, it does get boring after a while, obviously there are going to be updates and general content updates coming in the future.

It's a nice application, and I'm glad it's atleast something different.

I'm almost certain Home isn't a game. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
I dunno, I heard it was some sort of....app-li...appli...aplic...oh damnit, I can't pronounce it for the life of it, but I did hear that it was something else.

Dunno what the hell it could be though...

Oh wait, I said it in my own post;

It's a nice application, and I'm glad it's atleast something different.

Ok, then how about you being a little less sensitive? Especially about capital letters. I type how I inflect, and I'm an expressive person. They're just capital letters. Deal.

What part of me working in the games industry do not understand? Regardless of my degree, and designing products, does this not make me even a *little* knowledgeable?

I should leave it because you say so? Why don't you stop talking down to me and maybe I won't feel the need to defend myself.

all I had said is that these problems should have never made it into the beta based on my experience. Thats all I had wanted to say. I felt that when you made that quote I could try reason with you to show why I felt this way. Obviously the whole thing has got out of hand, as I've been part of this I feel I should say sorry for being rather harsh and brash, sorry for it getting this far as I could have just left it completely.

Home: Sony's answer to Internet Explorer.

Seriously, does this surprise anyone? It was bound to have issues since it was only in Beta Release. There were going to be smart-arses taking advantages of the vulnerabilities in the software.

Wow, that's fast.
And bad.

what if you could get a virus in your PS3 and you wouldn't be able to do anything with it?
that would suck

Thank god there's another smart person out there.

Anyway, haven't they patched this bug now?

Doesn't really seem excusable to me, beta or not. Home's problems are just too obvious. Downloadable profiles? Who tested the thing?

although i can appreciate sony candering to their consumers, they will never have the fanbase that the Xbox has.

On Topic: i actually got to play around with Home on my buddy's PS3 and i have to say im not impressed... its like they took "Second Life" and said "hey! lets put that on a console but a lot less popular!"

how about sony actually make some decent games for a change?
