So there have been a lot of threads concerning how one will spend their Halloween and on every one I seem to be the only one actually getting dressed up for it. I have skipped costuming for the past seven years because I have felt it to be too childish but this year I have changed my mind. A friend and I started making customized Mandalorian armor to wear on Halloween and it has been a lot of fun to make. I want to share with you all my costume and I hope to see some other people show off what they have made or will be wearing this Halloween, so here goes.

NOTE: This thread is for homemade costumes and the critiques of said costumes only (Unless it is a really incredible store-bought costume.)

My friend and I started back at the start of October and we made all our armor out of a number of thick-plastic garbage cans.

First is the helmet, the only piece we bought as it proved to hard to make ourselves, we plan to paint them tomorrow.

Here are the chest and back plates, I am going to attach them to the vest tomorrow as well, the gauntlets have proved difficult to make, I am going to run out and buy some kid-sized shin guards and paint them.

Here are the thigh, knee, and shin plates. The belt is a military issue belt ?procured? by my friend from the local C.A.P. Attached to the belt is a Kama, a piece of cloth that draped around the back of the wearer?s legs to protect against jetpack exhaust and blaster fire. We may not have jetpacks but the thing looks cool none the less.

Here is everything at once. I would include the flight suit, blaster, and gloves but those are still at my friend?s house. The boots are just some standard work boots. We?re going to attach the plates with an industrial strength Velcro taken from my friend?s father?s work (helicopter factory).

So once everything is complete I?ll post it here, I hope to have it done tomorrow.

Now has anyone else made a costume they are proud of that they hope to wear this Halloween? If you have post it here, I?d like to see some other people?s creations.

EDIT: Also decided to include home-made carved pumpkins as something to display as more people are likely to have those than a home-made costume. Here's my pumpkin.

Wow, I'm lazy, so I only put thought into the concept, instead of making one like you have. I'm just wearing a Guy Fawkes mask and a suit. Anonymous, a very scary monster at times.

I was thinking of doing a Black Hand trooper from the C&C universe after someone else mentioned it on the forums as it seems like a cool project to do, but not got started on it yet, had more important things to do. Looks like that's gonna be my debut University halloween costume

Still, props for making it on your own. Don't suppose you considered a Revan (going by your avatar)?

Revan was my first choice, unfortunetly it proved rather difficult to make. So I put the Revan project on hold until next year and instead did this.

Depends how you mean "made" really. My costume this year is a 1930's Private Investigator, and in the essence that I put it together myself and didn't store buy a Private Investigator outfit, then yeah. I've also got a cosplay costume, but again, I commissioned that and bought it rather than sewed in myself.

Depends how you mean "made" really. Funny. One of The Escapist staff members is hosting a Halloween party this year, and the theme is Steampunk. So a number of people in the office are working to put together custom costumes. I just got back from the thrift store and Home Depot.

Nice. There was someone in another thread who posted this after I did too. I'm just better than all y'all.

I once put together a make shift Jedi Knight outfit. I got the idea when my dad commented that I looked like a Jedi at a bonfire once, cause I had a hood on and I was staring at the flames, so half my face was in darkness.

I used my old Karate gi (died brown) and a heavily altered brown bed sheet, which would be my cloak. I also used a pair of brown boots, which I tucked the pantlegs of my gi into. I chose to shorten the cloak up past my ankles, then I shortened the sleeves to my elbows. In the end, I looked like the Black Belt from Final Fantasy III with a lightsaber. I actually looked pretty good; bad-ass and wise all at the same time.

I'm going with no shirt, just pants, and that's the whole costume. Then, when people ask me what I am, I'll say "I'm a premature ejaculation- I just came in my pants"

I plan to go this year as a vortigaunt from Half-Life 1.

I'll have a brown cloth over my face (with eye-slits) with a big single eye painted on it. I'll have a brown, ruffled button-up shirt with the wrists and collar painted green, and a wooden, paper, or plastic hand poking out of the shirt between the buttons, and secured to me by some sort of strap. And I'll carry around a strong green flashlight for the death-beam. Maybe the middle hand can carry my candy-basket/bag/headcrab. Then I walk around all hunched over and beam people to death with my light. Especially people wearing orange.

Unless I can think of something better, I'm going to wear all blue, attach white cotton balls to my clothing, and carry around a squirt gun. When people ask me what I am, I'll say "partly cloudy with chance of showers," and point the squirt gun at them hesitantly.
