Seems like more of a novelty than anything. Would be nice to have a community to call our own (PS3 users), but there will always be the same tards making their voices heard, and ruining the (somewhat limited) experience, for regular users. For example, some female avatars being stalked and bombarded with profanity and malcontent. Or so I've heard from Beta testers.

Whenever a price tag is put on something, I find that I have be getting something worthwhile to justify it. Slightly different clothing doesn't warrant real money imho.
People will always abuse something, it happens on every online service even right here on the escapist; you can't go to a thread without a seeing at least one ban, lol even i'm on probation due too the previous title of this thread.

I agree about the clothing/furniture point, but HOME is a place to chat and easily get to know new people not to make the best room or have the best avatar. It's only there because some sad people will spend money on this (and most likely a lot); that revenue made + the revenue from the advertising will give SONY money for other things, so I won't complain.
All you say is true, but it still reduces the enjoyment of the whole experience. I just hope that there will be some moderation of a sort. Would be cool to chat to some nice people who are like minded, no doubt, but it will involve sifting through the dregs first. (Not aiming to sound elitist or anything)

The beta gets released tomorrow? I can "play" Home since November 27. Maybe because I live in europe.

I'm not impressed. I can play The Sims and I feel the same.

How much will you be pissed off when it turns out to be shit?

I'm actually very psyched for HOME and as I said people are missing the point of HOME. So stop trolling here and go back to your bridge.
I'm sorry, but I didn't see anything like that in your original post. If stating that Home will be shit as a foregone conclusion is your idea of conveying that you are psyched for it, I think many more folks than me are going to miss your point.

I'm not trolling. In my defense I point out that I'm not the one who started a thread that is easily interpreted as baseless bashing.

The people in the beta are disappointed by it so it definately won't live up to the expectations, but i'd still like to try it for myself and am extremely excited to do so. Also, may I say that your post again seems like it intends to be offensive.

You certainly may say that, but you should be ready to admit that yours does as well.

I have been involved in the HOME beta now for a couple of months and I think it is a great idea. The mini games are a fun diversion while you and your friends figure out what to play. The physics of bowling and pool are well done.

As for what content is free and what you buy, no one knows how that is going to work for sure yet. However if I were to guess, most things will be free. Think about it. Already Red Bull is a sponsor. They have an area offering a free mini game. Companies want your attention and they want the attention of your friends. They will give you free cloths with their logo or you will get items for adding a logo to your Home. Also I unlocked an item for playing Echo Chrome within Home. The closed beta was only going to have so much content. I am sure there will be many more items to unlock and a wider selection of free cloths for the full version.

If I am wrong well so be it but at least I did not jump to the conclusion that everything would cost money and Home was going to be terrible without giving it a chance.

Home hasn't even been released yet?
I thought it was standard with the PS3 but no-one was talking about it...

Well, the people in the closed beta are only being used as bandwidth puppets for Sony's internal testing so I wouldn't put much faith in their gripes about lack of content.

I'll toy with it while it's free, but it'd have to be something pretty special for me to pay for extra content or any kind of subscription. I tried second life once for about half an hour. If Home is anywhere near as pointless, the feature will not see a second use.

Yeah, there is much more content to come from HOME; no point releasing lots of new stuff when there's only a small audience to cater for.
