I was homeschooled for quite some time until I realized the curriculum was fucked up.

Just a bunch of Christian propaganda bullshit.

Fuck that, I study on my own.

*Raises hand*

Homeschooled all the way through High School, outside of a year or few (bad memory) when I was a wee lad.

...I believe you are correct sir.

I don't remember specifically what it was, but that sounds familiar.

This is my last year of being homeschooled. I loved it. Since my pairents are realy laid back and I've rarely been pressured too much about school. I'm not the smartest kid around but I am happy.

I can't be sure, but that name sounds familiar.

I just couldn't take all the false crap in whatever it was that I used.

Constant dribble about how the founding fathers wanted this to be a purely Christian nation.

BUUULLLLSHHHHIIIITTT!!!!

I went to catholic school where they would force it down your throat...
and what made it worse was that my parents signed the form so the teachers can employ corporal punishment...
"You can't recite the book of Genesis? 10 Lashings!!!"

Oh, that would be me. Australian Catholic Homeschooler.

I forget sometimes, though. It's been 5 years since I finished schooling. I suppose, while it was good at the time, I don't feel the need to identify as a homeschooler anymore. Now I'm a chef, girlfriend and gamer.

Ugh, brutal.

Fortunately, I just went to public school. Still got my ass kicked everyday though.

How was the schooling there though. Despite the lashings?

Me. Against my will, due to the fact that my mother seemed to think that school is run by a bunch of cartoonishly evil assholes who corrupt the young.

I was also never really actually SCHOOLED, and pretty much learned everything on my own, or by asking questions.

well they didn't teach evolution and they completely screwed me up socially so I guess they did their job right... they also had an extremely high standard for Math and English (we're not supposed to learn Geometry in 7th grade...) so I ended up failing those 2 classes, I was forced to attend public high school and disappoint my parents...

Oh, fucking drag, man.

I can't stand it when schools have such high standards for certain classes. The school I went to was predominately christian though not technically a "Catholic School"

They didn't teach evolution and in 6th grade, I was required to learn Algebra. Fuck. That. Shit.

Still, that sucks. Why were your parents disappointed? That seems a bit stupid for them to be disappoint at that :/

Hahaha I remember the indoctrination stuff in the curriculum, after a while you don't notice it anymore, but I guess that is the point. When I started making decisions on my curriculum myself it gave me more freedom than most public schools in the area, I took high school classes at two different schools, I took a two college courses, and I was able to read any book I wanted for literature provided it was considered college material. My favorite christian Propaganda class was church history fascinating subject.

I don't get the point of homeschooling. No offense, I just need some education on the matter, why would you choose that instead of a normal school?

Homeschooled kids make VERY interesting adults. And by "interesting" I mean "maybe there's something to that whole 'kids need traditional school to properly socialize them' thing."

they always had such high hopes for me, you know they're the kind of parents that plan out their child's, in this case my, entire life. they even did their best to make excuses like telling people I have a learning disability even though I don't... so now I have low self esteem and an inferiority complex because they hold my brother and sister in such high regards...
