Okay , this thread is about online competitive gaming . We all know that once a game has online competitive gaming , there are bound to have some balance issues , ideally it wouldn't be too game breaking but thats not always true . So no matter what kind of game is it , there's bound to have that one character , gun , car , fraction , unit , skill ,footballteam ( i'm guessing) ,etc, that is slightly overpowered. I won't blame developpers because they have no idea how the game is going to turn out online .

Anyways my question is :

A)do you personally think , it's more honorable to play whatever game while avoiding anything that is blatantly overpowered?

B) do you think that it's fair game because anyone has the choice to use "it"?

C) do you go out of your way to avoid using overpowered things or do you use them anyways because it is part of the game?

I tend to only use overpowered items if the situation calls for it (usually an enemy using the overpowered stuff) otherwise I tend to avoid it a classic example would be not using the AWP back when I played Counter Strike.

as far as overpowered weapons go, Perfect Dark's Farsight took the cake. Sniper rifle that lets you see (and shoot) through walls, kills with one hit and automatically aims to your target for you. Once you got the farsight the game was over.

Once you choose to play the game, you've chosen to play the game.

Unless we're talking definite exploits or glitches, anything that's in the game is fair game to be used. It's fine to have your own sense of "honour" and set up house rules when playing with your friends, but going online means you have no right to dictate to others how they should play the game. If something is repeatedly kicking your butt, then it's up to you to learn how to deal with it. It's not the responsibility of the other players to coddle you and stop trying to win just to make you feel better.

For a quick example, let's say we're playing SSF4. I'm playing Ryu and we end up a full screen from eachother so I decide to throw a few fireballs. You get hit by those fireballs. Why should I not keep throwing fireballs if you keep getting hit by them? Why should I not keep throwing fireballs if you keep staying a full screen away?

In all honesty, lately the moment gaming becomes "competitive" I turn the thing off and go read or surf the web, because I game to avoid a stomach ulcer, not to get one.

But, as for the question goes, if it's in game and works as intended, it's fair game. If it's a glitch or exploit, it's not, simple as.
