I just "finished" another character in Skyrim and I've decided to retire him. He's come a long way and had a good run so my sense of proper closure has prompted me to give up on his story so I can pursue another, different one.

"To my Wood Elf Dragonborn: you started off in the middle of nowhere, stripped of your belongings and barely clinging to life (Thank you, Alternate Start mod). Even with fortune set against you, you found ways to make money and carve out a living even though you were a character with a weak constitution and a fear of bloodshed. It started with chopping firewood, mining, and harvesting crops. Later, when you scraped some money together for a mercenary, Jenassa, you moved on to bounty hunting and trading in crafted goods. You may have avoided more than a few chances for honor and glory but you proved yourself as handy a warrior as you could be when your back was to a wall. You bought a house in Whiterun. You played minion to most of the Daedric Princes. You killed two dragons. You became a Bard and celebrity in Solitude and Morthal. Finally, you got married to Jenassa and returned to Whiterun to continue your life in relative obscurity; Dragonborn legend be damned".

So yes, that was my retirement speech for that character. Post a similar ode to past protagonists you've played as. It doesn't have to be an Elder Scrolls character, just one whose story you had a certain attachment to.

I don't know if WoW characters count as protagonists, but I'm a heavy RPer, and I played the same character for seven years, so rules be damned, I'm posting one for her.

Amaree Blackrain. For seven years we were together, you rose from nothing to earn the respect of people and organizations more powerful than you could imagine, you showed me a world of adventure through your eyes. You lived, loved, and lost much in that time, we saw friends come and go, and still we lived on, but we knew the end must come, and now is that time, where your song has come to an end. You sacrificed yourself to save those you loved, dying as you had lived, with staff in hand, feeling the beautiful majesty of raw magic coursing through your veins. You died a warriors death, we could not ask for more. So goodbye Alah'ni, Mage of Dalaran, Arbiter of the Light, Defender of Stormwind, you may have been made of pixels, but you have earned a place in my heart, because I know, I may like to think I controlled you, but we both know you became something more than that.

Hmm, that probably sounds like I get a little too close to my characters, but really it was just her that really got away and became something more than I ever intended her to be, (In fact she was just supposed to be a one shot mage that my guild at the time needed as a minor character in a plot we were forming, and she became my best and favorite.

I seem to leave my Fallout characters in spots whereever I feel they've run through their respective character arcs.

For example, my one lady character in NV seduced and fell in love with Benny (still can't believe they added that into the game XD) the Legion kills him, she immediately destroys everyone in the The Fort and promises that she will take over Vegas from Mr House to honour Benny's wishes.

Left it there since it sounded pretty poetic.

I also left my heavily Science oriented Fallout 3 character alone after completing the Survival Guide to its fullest potential with Moira. I just felt like she'd be satisfied living in Megaton and not bothering with anything else after writing such a badass guide.

Fuck whoever says Moira is annoying, she's awesome!

My favourite character so far was the one where I decided he would be an absolute moralless dickbag. You know those times where you get annoyed by some random character, save, shoot them in the face then reload? Ya, that was my entire character with the reload bit cut entirely.

You know that casino in Primm? They have the back rooms with cool loot in? I decided to go in to stealthily steal all their shit, got discovered then promptly decimated the entire room.

Hey it's their fault for trying to stop me. Nobody needed to die as long as you let me rob you blind.
