As some of you might remember, Horizon Zero Dawn got my GOTY 2017. I absolutely love the game and think it's one of the best open world games in recent memory.

A couple of weeks ago the game was ported to PC.

This is unfortunately a PSA for all of you who might be interested in the game on PC to STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

The port is awful, and so bug filled the game is unfuckingplayable right now. From technical bugs causing system hang ups and crashes. To gamebreaking bugs like your character dropping dead randomly for no reason. sometimes you'll teleport randomly out of a cut scene and break the game's progression forcing a reload of a previous save. During cut scenes characters look in random directions and almost never where they are supposed to.

Guerilla Games has been patching the game, but they haven't addressed gameplay issues yet, only hard crashes.

Basically If you were waiting for this game.....keep waiting. At least until more patches come out that make the thing playable.

Or play on on PS4 because it's great there.

My favourite documented bug is that facial animations in cutscenes were locked to 30fps while everything around them ran at the uncapped framerate. Not sure if that's been patched out.

Rofl, this has me imagining Aloy having one of those old time feinting spells when she sees a robo-dino. "Oh heavens!! I've got the vapors!!" *falls over dead*

I cannot believe a port of such a well received and acclaimed game was handled so sodding badly.

Really? Seems to me that most ports are rife with bugs and glitches and problems, that only manifest once it hits the open market.

Neither could I. Because I never got to play the DLC expansion and was looking forward to playing the game again on my high powered PC.

Ports for niche or lower tier titles, sure, I can buy that. But Horizon was one of Sony’s new flagship IPs. This was something that should have had serious money thrown at it.

I remember this game completely blew its load in the first few hours with everyone dying at the ceremony, and then just having no interesting characters until I just got bored and stopped. I have it on 'good' authority that it starts to build up more steam once you get to last big city, but that reminds me of FF13 being good twelve hours in.

Yeah Steam reviews have been mixed at best. I’m thinking they’ll get it patched up well eventually but not sure when. The issues are disheartening considering Death Stranding was built on the same engine and plays incredibly well, along with taking advantage of dlss 2.0. Maybe Kojima Productions iterated on it though, and it doesn’t hurt that they’ve got more history with PC porting in general from the Konami days.

Eh, this feels more like YMMV, as I don't recall any issues with a slow period in the middle. The various side quests, and their attached NPCs were always amusing/engaging for me. And the main quest as well. For me, it was good throughout.

In fairness to them, that happens IRL as well.

I'm surprised Rockstar didn't add it as a feature to RDR2 for the sake of realism.
What? Arthur getting a horrible wasting disease without any gameplay method of treatment or way to avoid it isn't good enough for you?

That would have been hilarious, a chance that you're character could randomly suffer an aneurysm and just drop dead because realism.

I've had a few crashes and seen some off character expressions in cut scenes. But haven't encountered any of those other bugs.

Do we have video footage of this?
Its not as noticeable as something like Mass Effect Andromeda, its mainly just kinda weird facial ticks and blinks not being quite right.
