This seems like the sort of thread that would need a poll.

I rarely play splitscreen. But when I do, I prefer vertical split. Stay thirsty, my friends.

Horizontal.
Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 was ruined for me with it's fucking vertical view preference.

(What's with Resident Evil 5 having gaps at either side of the splitscreen aswell?)

Me and my friends aways went with the "Horizontal" version if possible. It feels more comfertable, going vertical is like being squished.
Also, its stupid enough when a game leaves a big empty spot in the corner of the screen when only 3 people are playing, but the worst is in games like Amored Core 4, which complety fucks with the amount of area via thick black borders for a simple fucking 2-player split-screen

Vertical makes it easier for me; the person sitting on the left is the left screen the person on the right is the one on the right.

Nice thread even though it's not had much attention, I prefer horizontal split screen and I agree that 3 player splitscreen is a pain in the arse, although I did play a game that had it split into thirds cant remember the game though, also have you seen the splitscreen on the next lego indy game?
Yeah I guess its just a slow day. And no I haven't, I tend to stay away from lego games just because I don't enjoy them.
Amen to that, after the star wars ones I lost interest in them

I was thinking about this, and wondering what something between vertical and horizontal split screen would be like on an HD (1080p 16:9) screen. Here is the result of my endeavor: http://picasaweb.google.com/pgn674/SplitScreenOptions?feat=directlink

Horizontal. You get more of the game in that way, plus it's easier to see. (don't have to worry so much about who sits where so that they can all see what's going on.)
