So I've been working as a dishwasher for some time now, and I recently quit. The job was simply too annoying and stressful, despite the good pay (plus I got studies and filmschool to worry about!).

Basically, at my job there were 2 bosses. One of them (let's just call him Frank) was always super nice. If you ever did anything wrong, he would correct you, but in the nicest way ever, example: *Me breaks glass* Frank: Well that happens to everyone, just throw the glass out in the bucket!
The other boss, however, was imo a massive dick (he is also really one of those sporty-adult types. Heavily into football (or soccer), and has been caught saying quite a few racist things).
For example: *Me stressing over TONS of dishes, going as fast as I can, when he comes* So.. Jones.. That's quite a lot of dishes.. What are you gonna do when it gets really stressful someday?

I don't mind that he made me notice the fact that there was a TON of work i needed done (I was pretty new at that time), but he came over to me again, again, again, again.. I would rip his throat out if I could.
But that's his JOB!

Yes, and I would overlook it, even if he was very patronising sometimes (really, I would consider quitting EVERY day I was working with him, but when the other boss was in, I loved the job), but recently a mate of mine (I got the job for the friend, when I left, so he could take my watches), said that he called me a ******, cause I found the job stressful.

So I sent him this mail today, wherein I explain that I do not like being called a ******, it's not very courteous of him to do it and the fact that He knew NOTHING of my status. He has no idea how busy i could've been, or how many factors I could've had that could make the job more stressful.
What a dick.
I just hope the good boss reads the mail I sent...

So with that out of the way (I needed venting), do you have any horrible boss stories?

So many bosses and managers have some sort of personality problem... Power just goes to peoples heads.
I had an old manager who was a complete ***** and seemed to hate me. If I dared to do something wrong (you know, like human beings do sometimes) she'd completely flip out and act like I was the worst person in the world. She was always saying I was too slow and stupid and just made working there Hell.
Thankfully I moved away and the manages here are nicer. Some are so fucking lazy though, and I've lost count of the amount of times they've messed up my wages. Today being one example -_-

My Manager use to have smoke breaks [not allowed too]. Use to insult other employees and take credit for everything and even made me Quit. because when i talked to Head Manager she pretty much said 'Ive never seen her mean to people'.

so she got away with it even after we had signatures from other employees

My boss is a lovely person and if he's reading this should give me a raise.

I was sexually harassed by my boss, and a had a couple of friends, one who has an emotionally abusive boss, and another who's boss is just a massive tool. Then we saw one of our bosses kill another as they believed the other was having an affair with the first boss's wife. As it turns out, the police suspected us after we were seen fleeing from the scene, but in a thrilling conclusion our car ends up recording evidence of our boss admitting to said murder. Also along the way, we met someone called "************" Jones, who we thought was a murderer, but really only sold bootleg "Snow Falling On Cedars" DVDs.

I had a boss at a small cable company who was supposed to train me on how to sell services, but he was more interested in his own sales and doing installs, so he assumed that because I'd been a Comcast sales contractor before I would know everything about how Wave Broadband worked. Wrong, doofus. I spent more time figuring things out on my own, or by asking a much more experienced coworker, than he ever helped me with things. And it was his job to train his new hires!

Does an incredibly inept boss count?

My boss is a nice enough person but has no clue what she's doing. She's recently bought the lease on the pub I work in, she cannot change a barrel properly despite me showing her 7 times (both cask and keg), doesn't have the first clue how to perform a line clean, doesn't know how to hold a pint glass or pour a pint (I know this sounds simple but there really is a way to do it properly which is incredibly easy), doesn't know the cost of what she orders, doesn't seem to be aware of the majority of licensing law despite being a personal license holder (don't even get me started on how that happens) and a myriad of other ridiculous things on a daily basis.

I've had my fair share of arsehole bosses though, some people just enjoy the power too much.

When I worked in food service back in the day I had about 4 or 5 different managers who had very different definitions of what my job entailed and inconsistent definitions at that. Apparently a prerequisite for working for a lunch restaurant is telepathy.

I don't have a problem with my current bosses but they do have a habit of ignoring me a lot. Thus is the plight of the intern.

I always thought that there was something off about somebody who wanted to become a manager. Like they studied and built their career around achieving management status.

Those guys are just weird.

All the good managers I know have worked their way up from the ranks. New managers who come in and take over the place from some other location never work out.

I never had an abusive boss, but I've had my share of fussy micromanagers, lazy blame shifters, and inept lost-in-the-woods types. Managing people is a pretty specific skill set, and it's one that very few people managers actually seem to possess.

My current boss is actually a pretty hoopy frood and I have nothing but good things to say about him.

My previous bosses were a couple of brain dead monkeys who got it in their mind to start up a software development company. They somehow or another managed to get funding to start the company and cultivated a fairly large national customer base all while having absolutely no idea what the software development process looked like or how a successful business was run.

Wait I heard about that, isn't one of your friend new boss is a sadistic despite being the CEO? I think he lock someone in his car for getting his coffee wrong? (Nice refence by the way).

OT- I recently got myself a proper job (about time) for the first time after University so I don't have that many bad bosses. Even then my current boss is actually quite nice seeing how she decided to hire me for all the hard work I perform during my work experience at her store (she said that I'm pretty much half trained).

*meh* My boss is actually OK... I think he's mellowed since I first started working for him, now that he's a dad and all (that and he's shit-scared of his wife). He still loses it every so often at work, but haven't heard him shout (as in properly shout) in... wow, years. Good thing I've never received a bollocking from him, for I am of feeble constitution! -_-

My last boss was a nasty little man. I was working as a receptionist in a small estate agents. Within my first week, I began to realise just how hard the job was going to be. When i started, the office was disguistingly dirty. The kitchen was growing some kind of fungus from all the blue-moulded coffee cups and i won't even mention the toilet. So decided to give the place a proper clean as there was no other work that needed done. When my boss arrived back to the office he started shouting about how there was nothing wrong with the place and that he hated the smell of bleach. After that things got worse. He would constantly make remarks about my weight and telling me that I needed to loss weight (even though I'm the right weight for my height). He would also tell me that I needed to wear more make-up. Thats just a few of the things he did. Needless to say I lasted only three months before I quit.

My other bosses have all been wonderful and I'm so glad that none of them have ever been as nasty or vile as that man.

I'm a dishwasher too. The head chef is kind of an ass. Well he's a major ass. Here's a few examples of his assery:

1. He always says "I want you out of here early" even though we're hella busy and there's just me.

2. The day dishwasher always leaves me tons of fucking dishes, and he always says "Where'd all these dishes come from?" That really pisses me off.

3. He is very disorganized.

Now the assistant chef, he is one of the coolest guys ever. I love being there when it's just him, and he's way more organized.
