Condemned.

And then when the lights are out my house would creak, like it always does, and I would not move until the sun comes up.

Hmm. Personally, none of em. I kinda don't get scared by horror games anymore. The worst stuff is when I was playing a translated Japanese horror game and my parents walked in and made me jump on to my roof.

This actually happened to me last week when I home alone playing Silent Hill 2. All the lights went including all the ones outside. That shoke me up a bit, haven't played it since.

I agree, the first one. the worst part would be the final boss fight with SKX and having him chase you in a standard house... shhh I think I hear somthing :|

You're going to laugh, but I swear the following happened;

The game was Stonekeep. An old school dungeon crawler inspired by the old Eye of the Beholder games. It's not an especially scary game. Or scary at all, really.

One night I'm playing it late at night, just me in the house - and the game crashes. Now Stonekeep was a buggy mess of a game at the best of times, and crashes were common, but this crash was a little different;

There is a part of the game where you walk through a secret wall (With a big 'whoosh!' sound and zooming-in effect) to see a Dwarf who is busy facing a wall with his back to you. As I took an in-game step towards him the screen froze, then jolted back a frame. The graphics palette inverted colours and then lines of game code were superimposed on the screen, and then the screen went black.

The speakers blurted out;
"MY MASTER WANTS YOUR SOOOUUUULL!!!!!"

And then the bulb in the room blew out, leaving me in darkness.

I very nearly soiled myself in terror. Absolutely nobody ever believed me about this but I swear it happened. I actually recently bought the game from GOG.com but I've been... hesitant to play it again.

Sorry if this wasn't exactly on-topic, but I hope you found it entertaining nevertheless.

That would be so bad if you lived at the North/South pole. If you played at summer/winter, you wouldn't be able to move for a long time...

Im pretty sure if I was playing Left 4 Dead when the lights went out Id refuse to get a flashlight in case I turned it on with a witch in the room. I would seriously be freaked out If the lights went out and I heard sobbing.

I still get nightmares constantly of Fatal Frame, the only series that really frightens me because I'm sort of a believer in ghosts <<

Once had a few nightmares of it happening in my house. Actually I was watching a walkthrough of the game on Youtube and well at one point the power went off.
Oh dear god I was so scared, especially when the wind went outside.

i usually doesn't have any light turned on when playing, except for my monitor ofc, and the blue glow from my keyboard keys.

I think i would be most pissed if it was a good game, and the power went, thereby shutting down the game/console.

Walking alone around a big empty medical factory at night for a year and a half sort of takes the fear of darkness out of you.

Condemned 1 and 2...I hated the first level of 2 SO MUCH.

Dead Space is pretty freaky, but it's suitably unreal that I don't mind it as much.

I think that if the power went out while I was playing any game the game would turn off.

Unless I'm playing my DS.

I always remember the first Condemned, but never the first level of C2. Yeah- that is the creepiest part of the game.

I think Silent Hill Homecoming had plenty of moments that gave me the willies. The intro level was scary as hell.

The first Resident Evil managed some good 'jump' moments, but true scares are found in the Silent Hill series. Nothing else I've played has really creeped me out the same way.
