Somewhat of a continuation of my "How far would you go?" thread.
Still playing Silent Hill, still trying my best to refrain from pissing myself. I was almost to the end of the Blue Creek Apartment complex when I hear these scratchy, and thumpy noises. I don't hear any static from the radio, just these noises. So I'm walking all over the place trying to find out what the fuck is making that noise, and as it went on, I'm just freaking out more and more. Finally I hear a big thump, and if I wasn't playing on a laptop in a recliner, I would've jumped 3 feet in the air. So I pause the game, take my headphones off, and catch my breath. While catching my breath I noticed that the cats had knocked a box over. Then it hit that the scratching and thumping noise I heard was just the damn cat scratching on the box. (It makes a thumping noise because they're declawed.)
So, have outside noises ever increased the horror of a game while you were playing?
