Not sure if they have it at Blockbuster, but my favourites are always Japanese (or at least Asian) horror films

Some of my favourites:

-Audition
-Ringu
-Ju-On
-Shutter
-Pulse
-Thirst
-A Tale of Two Sisters
-Cube (not Asian)
-3 Extremes
-Memories of Murder

Blair Witch Project divides people, it scares some people but not others. I really liked it for what it is worth.

Orphan. Just go watch it. You'll be glad you did. (Or at least I will be. :p)

That wasn't scary at all! I was just lost and bored all the way through.

I think Paranormal Activity was creepy, and freaked my the hell out when
The possessed lady ate her arm off.

You damned ninja!
Hahahaha! Yes! I have once again ninja'd you.

It's what I seem to do best ^-^
You didn't manage to ninja me with [REC] though, so I still vaguely win. Also, I think the Japanese original of Pulse is just called Kairo everywhere, which is why I changed it when I quoted you. I may be wrong though.
Very true. I thought I'd let you have REC and I'll just stick to Asian film XD

Haven't heard of Kairo though. It just says "Pulse" on the box I have. Maybe it's just because it's the crap American version.

I said it once and I'll say it again; The (original) Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Still the scariest horror movie I've ever seen. And I don't scare easily.

The Descent will remain my favorite horror movie of all time, though The Exorcist is also a good watch for the creepy mood.

My recommendations:

The Shining.
The Thing (the John Carpenter one, not the 1950's one).
Alien (Not Aliens. Good as it was, I have always considered Aliens more of an action movie than a horror movie).
Blair Witch Project.
Ju-on: The Grudge.
Ringu.

All that comes to mind at the moment.

The Descent, its really quite good.

The Thing, the special effects are positively terrifying on their own.

[REC], its fucking terrifying.

The remake of The Hills Have Eyes, The Evil Dead, Paranormal Activity (only in the dark though to get the full effect), and any Japanese horror flick.

Somebody get hub in here!

It definitely wont be in blockbuster but oldboy, not scary just fucked up. There are no scary films there all either jump out scares (aka the worst kind of scares) or fucked up.

House of 1000 corpses, the devils rejects etc. Quarantine is the only film that has ever come anywhere close to scaring me.

Try the ones that I have mentioned.

Some of the ones I have read in this thread are bad, the decent? Really? Blair witch? Lord no. Audition has one good scene.

Come and See, the Russian war film. Uhh not a ghost and ghouls type horror, but the most horrific film I have ever seen.

The Original Halloween and Halloween 2 plus Halloween 1&2 remakes are really scary. Also Stephen King's IT if you weren't scared of clowns you will be. Pet Cemetery and Poltergeist are also both good horror films. Psycho is good but more of a Thriller than a Horror. Scream 1,2 & 3 are good as well.
