Sad news, I am guessing their most iconic brands like Twinkies will probably get picked up by another company. Sad to see such a well known company finally collapse under the unbearable weight of a crap market and a overbearing worker compensation obligation.
What do you think? Is this a condemnation of the bakers union? I think leadership could have been a little more frank at the negotiating table (we cut pay, we fire a percentage or we all go under. CHOOSE!) I feel really terrible for all the other employees who were not striking and face unemployment because of the others.
Side note, since they are filing to be allowed to close do you think it will be granted? Should they be bailed out by the government? Most importantly, who will make my beloved Snowballs?!
Also, I didn't think this was overly political but if belongs in R&P please, move it on along!
