It should have ended before that whole reality show experiment that House arranged there, don't know when it was, but yeah then it all went to shit it had like a few good episodes per season after that.

Dear people of the world,

Please stop saying that things should end or die or stop or that sequels shouldn't be made or that a new thing has ruined the series/genre/whatever because it makes NO SENSE. If you believe that house (Or anything else) should have ended after two series stop watching after two series. Noone is forces you to watch or even acknoledge the exsistance of any of the other series of house.

The reason companies continue to make anything is because people watch them, so let other people enjoy whatever it is that you think has gone on too long and be happy that you enjoyed the first two seasons and then it went down hill so you stopped but you can accept that other people might still find it enjoyable.

Your sincersly,

Me.
I essentially agree with this. I would add though that just wanting something to end seems a bit like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Even if the show isn't as good as it used to be, it's still better viewing than just about every TV show that isn't on HBO or Showtime. Either don't watch, or watch and enjoy the bits you like and discard what you dislike. How is the show actually ending going to benefit anyone?

I love House. It should have ended after season 3 at the latest. It hasn't been fun since. I hate the drama. I miss the medicine, I miss the snark. I miss the mystery and I miss a show about a doctor NOT being about fixing people.

Well, in this case it would be Hugh Laurie getting a new project to be awesome in.

I was a huge House fan from the first season, but it should've ended two seasons ago. I lost interest because they stopped putting the focus on the medical mysteries, which took a back seat to a bad soap opera. They just need to end it and move on. I don't even watch it any more, and I bet they lost a lot of viewers in the last few seasons.

I think the show is still great. The Stuff with 13 last season (and about her brother), the end of the season finale this past season was one of the only moments where I was like WTF. Chase and Forman and evolving a bit as people and are more willing to get into his face.

The show is about how people try and make House better and his insecurities make it impossible to not push them away. His arrogance and the fact that Cuddy wouldn't reprimand him made him think he can get away with anything.

This up coming season Cuddy won't be back (its been announced a long time ago) so whoever they choose to be in charge of the hospital will really be able to shake up the show for the first time, especially if its who I think it will be (that black billionaire from a few seasons ago). You have the chance for House to have to adjust for the first time. I think this season could be one of its best. No need to end a series that is incredibly popular even without as much character progression and growth as other shows.

Should be cancel the Simpsons because of the lack of character growth in that series too?

this has been confirmed as the last season of house to be made... stop whining and push through one last season.
That is not entirely true, not entirely false either. What has been reported on credible sites is that they think this will be the last season of House....12 months ago they reported How I Met Your Mother was entering its last season but it has a new season.

Hugh Lurie specifically said he beliefs this will be the last season of the show but Fox has not announced that it will be the final season so its not confirmed but speculated about.

I think Hugh Laurie needs to come back to England and get together with Rowan Atkinson for another series of Blackadder.
this and nothing else.

i stopped watching house when all this huddy BS began. Every time you heard something about it on Facebook or similiar sites was "House and Cuddy are now a couple ^______^ YAY".
The series grew stale for me and i stopped watching.
don't care if they stop the series or not, i won't be watching it.

House never was my cup of tea. I watched it but I wasn't a huge fan. If they made a big dramatic ending(like a lot of death or something) then I'd probably go back and re-watch. As it stands now its on because its one of the highest rated dramas on t.v so I'm not going to rag on it.

I think it should. All the progress that happened went down the drain at the end of this season and I think it just needs to stop. And I'm a Huddy fan, and after they broke up I knew I was done.

I am a house fan. I do believe it should end now. they at the end of the last season have in my opinion officially jumped the shark, and once you do that there is no going back. It was a great run and I enjoyed the show but everything must come to an end.

I freaking love House M.D, but I agree. The show had it's prime and it deserves an end before it becomes a too much of a drag.

I respectfully disagree, though I do understand where you're coming from.
I am a huge House fan, so I enjoy (or should I say "enjoyed") many of the longer story arcs. It would be far more satisfying for me, as a fan, if the story finished in a strong way. Saying that you can stop watching the show is like telling someone who is criticizing the end of a movie that they could have left the theater at any time. You're supposed to take the work as whole.

then again, which show in it's 7th or 8th season is actually good? (not counting stuff that does not have a real continuity.)
Doctor Who comes to mind. Technically speaking, that's on it's 32nd season now.

Desperately so, yes. House devolved from a lovably cynical jerk with a heart of gold, a la Doctor Cox, into a completely unsympathetic monster a long time ago, and watching the writers flail around trying to come up with a legitimate reason for him to do this bullshit every week is just getting sad.

I realise this is a website about gaming but what the hell...

Does anyone else agree that House MD should end?

Its one of my most hated things about American television that there is no arc or defined progress to a series. it gives a shows a meandering quality which makes character development in certain episodes pointless because they just go back to square one.

It feels to me like they should end House and stop milking the teats of the cow before they become black stalactites.....

what do you guys think? is there mileage left in the show?
Except that House does do arcs and the characters do grow as the series progresses, sometimes radically.

I would be very surprised if they don't have an ending in mind that they're building toward. House has really tended not to ever just sweep character changes under the rug and pretend like they never happened. The characters themselves tend to fall back into old habits, but that's part of the story's progression, not some cheap way of avoiding the consequences of earlier events in the series.

Yes, House always ends up back on drugs and alone, but that's not due to cheap writing where they just act as though nothing ever happened - it's because he's a lonely man addicted to narcotics with the emotional maturity of a twelve-year-old. But every time, despite ending up back in what appears to be the same situation, I feel like they do a very good job showing that things aren't quite the same - that there is a definite progression for these characters.

I think the overwhelming majority of the complaining about how the show isn't going anywhere is really just people frustrated with the fact that the last few seasons have been somewhat disappointing compared to earlier seasons (though I think the very last season redeemed things somewhat, excluding the incredibly anticlimactic finale).

(I do sympathise more with the complaints about how peripheral the medicine has become over the seasons though. I still like the show, but I definitely feel like I would like it more if they made the cases a bit more central again. Before the last season, I would have agreed about the lack of humour, but they seem to be doing a much better job with that, especially with House and Wilson.)

doesn't count.
since you can just replace every character and the only constant is the TARDIS doctor who works on its own scale. besides it's been that good recently.

I stopped watching House halfway through season 4 and really just wanted it to end there, the fact that the writers completely wussed out of the BIG decision made at the end of season 3 (won't say for spoilers) said more than enough to me.

In retrospect, I'm glad I copped out before the show took a REAL turn for the worse...

I don't think it should end. They switch up the secondary cast regularly. House himself is obstinate as all hell, so it makes sense that his character progression would be slow. And House has actually changed slowly but steadily, and those changes have stuck, especially over the past several seasons. He got help for his issues, he quit drugs, he got into a relationship, fell out of a relationship and subsequently exploded...he has changed a lot. And all the time, he has managed to remain a hilarious asshole through it all. I think House could continue indefinitely, but at the very least, its not stale yet.
