If players get points for trophies, and if they can use those points to buy stuff for their PlayStation avatar, then they have something a lot more interesting than a simple "score" that goes up.

Don't they do that already?

No not yet, but it should happen soon at least.

This isn't a new idea at all. It's been the plan all along. Home is currently undergoing beta testing so I don't know why everyone expects all the features to be fully implemented right now. Things like virtual trophy cabinets and exchanging trophies for prizes & beta access have always been on the agenda.

To some extent it's already been implemented. I remember unlocking extra clothes & furniture in Namco Museum quite a while ago...
I think the reason for that is that HOME has been out for a while, but it's still in "beta". Personally, I think slapping the "beta" on there was an excuse to not have to live up to expectations, but I see where you're getting.

It'll grow, but I think it's been out long enough to not be in "beta".

Home is in no way attached to gaming on the PS3, whereas the Gamertag on the Xbox 360 is. That's what you're saying, right? That completely hits the nail on the head. If you play games on the Xbox 360 you get achievements and scores in multiplayer that directly make your Gamertag 'more valuable'. If you see someone with a big list of played games and a lot of achievements and gamerpoints you'll see them as real gamers that know what they're doing. It grows your e-cock, in a matter of speaking.

The PS3 misses this. They finally have trophies, but Home is in no way related to them. If it was, the PS3 might hit it big. How many people like micro-transactions? There was a rumor Diablo 3 would have micro-transactions, and I can't remember anyone jumping up and down in excitement. Who likes dishing out cash for every little thing? Let's say you have to pay a tiny amount of money for everything you buy on WoW. Even if it would be cheaper than the (bi)monthly fee you pay now, it wouldn't be half as popular as it is right now. That's what I think..

Exactly. I love the points and achievements on the 360, I just got one, and yesterday I went to a friends house to try out his new PS3. I saw some trophies he had earned on Modern Warfare 2 and asked him if he got points or anything. He had hardly noticed them. Also, I haven't had time to buy a wireless adapter to go online for the 360, are the points I've earned through achievements in games actually worthless? Damn. I would also like to see a system where I could spend them on DLC. Cause that's what I assumed you could do. And that would be a big one-up over the other console. (Whoever implements it first) will have you rewarded with extra content for playing a game you want to play in the first place. :D
